O'Brien picked up her third goal of her career
For Stonehill (15-6-1, 8-5-1 NE-10) senior Claire O'Brien (West Hartford, Conn./Hall) recorded her second goal of the season off a direct kick.
American International's (12-7-1, 9-5-0 NE-10) Johanna Nilsson, Stephanie Tweer and Jessica Margaretta tallied the goals for the Yellow Jackets.
American International found the crossbar in the opening minutes of the game, as Stonehill was able to gain possession on the shot afterwards and take it to its offensive third.
With an offside call on Stonehill, the Yellow Jackets capitalized on the free kick, as it got it into the 18-yard box. The Skyhawks tallied a foul inside the box, as Nilsson sent a penalty kick to the back right post at 17:35 for the first score of the game.
As possession continued bouncing back-and-forth between teams, Stonehill got off two free kicks, one from Brianna Duserick (Canton, Mass./Canton) from about 30 yards out and then one from O'Brien from just about the top of the box. O'Brien chipped the ball and sent it over the head of the goalkeeper to tie the game at one at 30:45. In the remaining minutes of the half, both teams got off three shots apiece, where Jamie Block (Georgetown, Mass./Georgetown) saved all three of the Yellow Jackets' balls.

In the second half, American International outshot Stonehill 10-0, where it connected on two balls in the 64th and 71st minute extending its lead to two, 3-1. The first goal came from Tweer who set a long ball to the left upper 90, as Nilsson recorded the assist. Seven minutes later, Margaretta dribbled past a Stonehill defender blasting the ball to the top part of the net extending the lead to two, 3-1.
Stonehill wrapped up the season 15-6-1 overall and 8-5-1 in Northeast-10 season play. This is the best season since 1999 for the Skyhawks as they received their first NCAA Division II Tournament bid in program history.
