Six Top-Five Finishes Highlight Men's Track and Field's Final Day At NE10 Championships

EASTON, Mass. (May 7, 2022)- On the final day of the Northeast-10 Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships, the Stonehill College men's track and field team saw six Skyhawks notch top-five finishes with Solomon King earning All-Conference honors in three events Saturday. Overall on the day, Stonehill finished in fifth place (71.5 points) with Franklin Pierce (106 points), New Haven (124.5 points), American International College (128 points), and Southern Connecticut State claiming the top spot (269 points). 

Highlights: 

  • King highlighted the day for Stonehill as he earned All-Conference honors in the 200-meter, high jump, and as a member of the 4x100 team. In the 200-meter race, King crossed the finish line at 21.92 seconds (third place) to earn his first All-Conference honor. He was recognized as All-Conference in the high jump when he set a new career-high leap of 1.99 meters for second place. Finally, in the 4x100 relay, King anchored the squad to a third-place finish with a time of 41.95. 
  • Also competing with King in the 200-meter, was Shea Drugan who finished not far behind King in fifth place (22.20 seconds). His fifth-place finish earned the Skyhawks four points to go along with King's six. 
  • Jacob Pacheco joined King in the high jump and grabbed a top-10 finish (seventh) with a leap of 1.84 meters which earned Stonehill 1.5 points. 
  • Along with King, Stonehill's 4x100 relay team was made up of Nate Skopas, Drugan, Zachary Ofurum, and King. With their third-place finish (41.95 seconds), the squad earned All-Conference recognition. 

Other Performances:

  • The Skyhawks saw their most runners on the day (five) run in the 5,000-meter highlighted by Colin Black's fourth-place finish as he set a new personal record with a time of 14:54.55. His new best time is ranked the fifth-best in the entire NE10. Shortly after Black, Stonehill's next four runners finished one after the other. Reilly Johnston came in 13th at 15:35.61 which marked a new career-best. Rounding the rest of the Skyhawks after Johnston was Patrick Garratt (14th-15:38.24), Aidan Byrne (15th-15:44.73), and finally Andrew Janus (16th-15:50.29). 
  • In throwing events, Michael Gozzo led the Skyhawks in the discus with a throw of 38.77 meters for eighth place. A few spots down, Chris Cox posted a toss of 32.72 meters to come in 16th place. 
  • Continuing with throwing events, Gozzo paced Stonehill again with a shotput toss of 12.41 meters (17th place). Just a few spots back were Robert Lisi and Maxamillion O'Quinn who finished 20th (12.00 meters) and 22nd (11.19 meters) respectively. 
  • Parker Hagen represented the Skyhawks in the triple jump when he posted a leap of 12.05 meters for 12th place. 
  • In the 400-meter hurdles, Andrew Morin collected seventh place after crossing the finish line at 58.11 seconds which gave the Skyhawks two points. 
  • King also ran in the 100-meter Saturday and set a new personal record at 10.78 seconds to come in fourth. 
  • Stonehill's other relay (4x400), saw Morin (52.6 seconds), Jackson Domingo (52.3 seconds), Ofurum (51.7 seconds), and King (49.8 seconds) finish in seventh place at 3:26.65.
