Men's Track and Field Finish Strong On Day Two of NE10 Indoor Championship

ROXBURY, Mass. (February 25, 2022)-On day two of the Northeast-10 Conference Indoor Track and field Championship, the Stonehill College men's track and field team finished in fifth place (52 points). Southern Connecticut State won the men's division with 225 points, American International College came in second (194 points), followed by the University of New Haven (87 points), Franklin Pierce in fourth (72 points), then Stonehill to round out the top-five. Overall on the day, the Skyhawks saw two top-five finishes but multiple (six) top-ten finishes. 

Highlights:

  • Nickolas McNamee paced Stonehill with a fifth-place finish in the 800-meter dash with a time of 1:59.38. Each time McNamee has competed in the 800-meter this season, he has posted a sub-two-minute time in all three meets. 
  • In the 200-meter dash finals, Solomon King sprinted across the finish line at 22.49 seconds for a sixth-place finish. Overall on the season, King has run a sub-23-second 200-meter dash and recently set a new personal best yesterday at the NE10 Indoor Championship (22.44 seconds). 
  • The one-mile run saw two Skyhawks finish within the top-15 between Ian Cann (ninth) and Michael Parzych (13th). Cann finished with a time of 4:23.53 which ended up topping his previous career-best (4:23.54) from the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Indoor Track & Field Championships at the beginning of February. Parzych also set a new personal record with his time of 4:34.31 that surpassed his previous best from the URI Coaches' Invitational back in January. 
  • Stonehill's relay teams both had solid showings on day two of the NE10 Indoor Championship both finishing within the top ten. The Skyhawks 4x800 meter team that consisted of Noah DrapeauJackson DomingoNate Skopasand John Paulhamus finished in fourth place with a time of 8:03.57. Meanwhile, in the 4x400, Stonehill notched a fourth-place finish courtesy of King (51.3), Paulhamus (52.4), Skopas, (52.9), and Sean Theurer (53.4).

Other Performances:

  • During the 3,000-meter race, Stonehill had two runners place within the top-20 with Jace Hollenbach leading the way in eighth with a time of 8:49.45 which ended up being a new career-best. Andrew Janus also set a personal record in the event when crossed the finish line in 17th place and a time of 9:09.79.
  • Parker Hagen made his NE10 Indoor Championship debut when he competed in the triple jump and came in 14th place with a leap of 12.05 meters which ended up being career-best for Hagen. 
  • In throwing events, Stonehill placed three overall in shot-put. Robert Lisi paced the Skyhawks with a toss of 12.82 meters and surpassed his previous career-high of 11.94 meters set last April at the Stonehill/Bentley dual meet. Not far behind was teammate, Michael Gozzo who also set a personal record from his throw that went 12.62 meters. Finally, Tyler Thomas rounded out the three Skyhawks from shout-put who ended up finishing 21st (12.27 meters).
