Three Event Wins Lead Men's Track & Field to Second at SNHU Spring Invite

MANCHESTER, N.H. (April 2, 2022) – The Stonehill College men's track & field program posted a second-place team finish for the second straight week at the SNHU Spring Invitational, hosted by Southern New Hampshire University, at Penmen Stadium today.

Stonehill compiled 180 points through its three event wins and 16 top three finishes for 29 top five efforts overall. Franklin Pierce University won the team title with 250 points, while the University of Maine-Farmington (125) rounded out the top three in the team standings. 

Highlights 

  • Senior Nickolas McNamee led the way in the one mile run, finishing first in 4:21.78, leading six Stonehill entries in the top seven out of 22 runners overall. Junior Colin Black finished third in 4:25.96, followed by freshman Jace Hollenbach in fourth (4:30.29), sophomore Patrick Garratt in fifth (4:32.59), sophomore Ian Cann in sixth (4:34.13) and junior Andrew Janus in seventh (4:34.23).
  • Sophomore Solomon King won the high jump by clearing a height of 5-feet, 10-inches.
  • King also finished second in the 400-meter dash in 51.17-seconds, while sophomore n Andrew Morin followed in third in a personal-best 52.01-seconds, while junior Casey Ivester finished fourth in a personal-best 52.61.
  • Freshman Parker Hagen took first place in the triple jump, clearing a distance of 41-feet, 3-inches. He was also fourth in the long jump with a personal-best distance of 19-feet, 11.75-inches, following freshman Sean Theurer in second with a personal-best distance of 20-0.25.

    Freshman Shea Drugan, junior Nate Skopas and freshman Zachary Ofurum led solid Stonehill packs in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes. Drugan was third in both the 100 (11.63-seconds) and 200 (personal-best 22.55), while Skopas was fourth (11.68/personal-best 23.29) in both and Ofurum fifth in each (11.85/personal-best 23.29).
  • Freshman Tyler McNair  and sophomore Cedric Henry also scored points for the Skyhawks in the 100-meter dash with their seventh (12.16) and eighth (12.30) place finishes, respectively.
  • Sophomore Jacob Pacheco posted a sixth place finish (personal-best 23.75) in the 200-meter dash and Theurer in seventh (24.27). McNair also scored a point for the Skyhawks in ninth (personal-best 24.53).
  • Pacheco also placed second in the pole vault, clearing a height of 13-feet, 5.25-inches, while sophomore Cody DeAngelo placed third at 12-11.50.

  • Freshman Ethan Peck placed second in the hammer throw with a personal-best distance of 138-feet, 4-inches, while senior Robert Lisi was fifth with a throw of 133-08.
  • Freshman Jason Webber finished third in the 400-meter hurdles in a personal-best 1:02.17.
  • Sophomore Connor Hughes placed third in the 800-meter run in a personal-best 1:59.76, with freshman Jackson Domingo fourth in a personal-best 2:05.41.
  • Freshman Alvin George placed fourth in the javelin throw with a personal-best distance of 127-feet, 8-inches.
  • Sophomore Chris Cox placed eighth in the discus throw with a personal-best distance of 109-feet, 10-inches.

Up Next

Stonehill returns to action next Saturday at the Merrimack Track Carnival, hosted by Merrimack College, at 2 p.m. Later this spring, Stonehill will host its 13th Skyhawk Invitational on Saturday, April 30, at W.B. Mason Stadium, as well as the Northeast-10 Conference Championships the following weekend, May 6-7.
