EASTON, Mass. (April 30, 2022)- Stonehill men's track and field saw 23 top-five finishes and were led by Solomon King and Jacob Pacheco who had first-place finishes in their respective events. King took home first in the 200-meter dash whereas Pacheco was first in the pole vault. Overall on the day, the Skyhawks finished in second place (154 points) with only Merrimack ahead at 252 points. 

It was also senior day where Stonehill honored their four seniors: Shane BrazNickolas McNameeRobert Lisi, and Maxamillion O'Quinn

Highlights

  • King had another strong meet as the freshman took home top-three finishes in three events on the afternoon. In the 200-meter, King set a new personal record with a winning time of 21.68 seconds. His quick time is good for the third-best in the NE10 this outdoor season. For the 100-meter, King crossed the finish line in second place with another personal-best at 10.86 seconds. His time from the 100-meter is also good for third in the NE10 this season. King's final event was in the 4x100 relay where he anchored the team to a second-place finish (42.93 seconds).
  • Pacheco was Stonehill's other first-place winner after winning in the pole vault with a leap of 4.30 meters. His winning jump today topped a previous season-high of 4.10 meters set last month at the SNHU Spring Invitational. He also competed in the high jump and posted a jump of 1.90 meters. 
  • Shea Drugan also had a great outing posting two top-three finishes in the 100 and 200-meter races where he set personal bests. In the 100-meter, Drugan crossed the finish line at 11.02 seconds (third place) and his time is also a top-10 in the NE10 (tenth). The 200-meter race saw him finish second with a time of 21.78 seconds. His time in the 200-meter is a top-five in the NE10 (fifth). 
  • McNamee was one of four Skyhawks to finish within the top-10 in the 1500-meter race. McNamee finished third with a time of 4:03.01. Not far behind was Colin Black in fifth with a personal-best time of 4:04.19, Patrick Garratt finished two spots later in seventh when he also set a new career-best time (4:10.01), finally Jace Hollenbach rounded out the top-10 in eighth (4:11.06).
  • Freshman, Michael Gozzo had a strong outing for the Skyhawks as he grabbed two top-five finishes in each throwing event he competed in. First, in the discus, Gozzo set a personal record with a third-place toss of 39.75 meters. In shotput, Gozzo recorded a throw of 12.92 meters. 
  • Lisi partook in the hammer throw and set a career-best at second place with a toss of 44.03 meters. Ethan Peck was right behind Lisi at 41.93 meters and finally, Chris Cox rounded out the top five (fifth) when he had a throw of 41.18 meters. 

Other Performances:

  • Parker Hagen led the Skyhawks in the triple jump with a leap of 12.94 meters which was good for second place. A couple of spots later in fourth was Sam Kelly at 11.25 meters. 
  • Stonehill posted a solid performance in the 400-meter hurdles with two top-10 finishes led by Andrew Morin in third place at 56.93 seconds and Jason Webber crossed the finish line in 10th place (1:03.66). 
  • Alvin George was the lone representative for the Skyhawks in the javelin and had a toss of 35.79 meters. 
  • Along with King and Drugan in the 100-meter, Zachary Ofurum and Nate Skopas had finishes of fifth (11.17 seconds) and eighth (11.29 seconds) respectively. Ofurum also ran in the 200-meter and finished sixth at 22.32 seconds. 
  • In the long jump, Stonehill had three top-10 finishes with Sean Theurer leading the way in the fifth with a personal-best jump of 6.16 meters, Hagen came in eighth (5.78 meters), and Kelly ended up in 10th (5.39 meters).
