King Named NE10 Track Rookie of the Week

EASTON, Mass. (April 12, 2022)- Stonehill College sprinter, Solomon King, was named the Northeast-10 Conference men's track rookie of the week for the first time in his collegiate career. 

Last week at the Merrimack Track Carnival, King turned in a strong sprint performance for Stonehill, when he won the 200-meter dash in a personal-best 22.31-seconds and then finished second in the 100-meter dash in a personal-best 10.99-seconds. Overall this outdoor season, King has finished within the top-10 in each event he has competed in.

Two weeks ago at the Southern New Hampshire University Spring Invitational, King competed in the 400-meter for the first time in his career and posted a second-place finish with a time of 51.17 seconds. He also partook in the high jump when he won the event with a jump of 1.78 meters (5 feet, 10 inches). In the squad opening meet at the UMass Lowell Invitational on March 26, King notched a seventh-place finish in the high jump with a leap of 1.81 meters. However, in the 100-meter dash, he took home first place with a time of 11.21 seconds. 

Coming up this week, Stonehill returns to Merrimack on Thursday for a Quad Meet with Assumption University and UMass Lowell starting at 2 p.m. Later this spring, Stonehill will host its 13th Skyhawk Invitational on Saturday, April 30, at W.B. Mason Stadium, as well as the NE10 Championships the following weekend, May 6-7.
