EASTON, Mass. (May 5, 2022)-  The Stonehill College men's track and field team will be competing in the Northeast-10 Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship this week, May 6-7 at W.B. Mason Stadium at Stonehill College. 

For the Pre Championship Coaches Poll, Southern Connecticut was slated to earn the championship receiving 66 points with six first-place votes. Stonehill was tabbed in fifth place, earning 40 points in the Coache's Poll with University of New Haven (fourth-56 points), American International College (third-61 points (one first-place vote)), and Franklin Pierce (second-64 points (two first-place votes)) ahead of the Skyhawks. 

Stonehill will have their most runners (four) in the 100-meter dash preliminaries led by sophomore Solomon King and freshman Shea Drugan. King has competed in the 100-meters at every meet this season and has notched one win back in March at the UMass Lowell Invitational. King set a personal best in the event at last week's Skyhawk Invitational with a time of 10.86 seconds which is the third-fastest time in the NE10. Meanwhile, Drugan has also competed in the 100-meters in five out of the six meets this year and has finished within the top-10 each time. Drugan ran his career-best at the Skyhawk Invitational with a time of 11.02 seconds and is ranked within the top-10 (tenth) of the NE10 for the fastest time this season. 

Also seeing action in this race are Cedric HenryTyler McNair, and Zachary Ofurum Henry will be making his NE10 Championship debut just like King and Drugan, and he has run in this event at five out of the six meets and posted his personal best at the Merrimack Track Carnival in April (11.86 seconds). McNair also is making his NE10 Championship debut and has run in all six meets this season and at the Holy Cross Invitational two weeks ago, McNair ran a career-best, 11.69 seconds in the 100-meters. Finally, Ofurum is making his NE10 Championship debut as well and also competed in all six meets this season and posted his best time at Skyhawk Invitational when he finished fifth at 11.17 seconds. 

King, Drugan, and Ofurm will also be competing in the 200-meter preliminaries later on in the day. King comes into the race with two wins in this event (Merrimack Track Carnival and Skyhawk Invitational). At last week's Skyhawk Invitational, King ran a blistering 21.68 seconds (personal record) which is the third-fastest time in the NE10. As for Drugan, he competed in this race five out of six meets. He ran his best time at the Skyhawk Invitational (21.78 seconds) and is not far behind King in the NE10 rankings as Drugan's time is the fifth-fastest in the conference. For Ofurum, he partook in this event at six meets and ran a career-best 22.32 seconds also at the Skyhawk Invitational (sixth place).

Michael GozzoRobert Lisi, and Maxamillion O'Quinn will compete in shotput this weekend. Reigning NE10 Field Rookie of the Week, Gozzo, has competed in shotput in five out the six meets this year and threw a personal best, 12.96 meters at the UMass Lowell Invitational. Lisi will be making his third NE10 Championship appearance and on the season, he has thrown in shotput at all meets this season and notched a career-high throw of 12.92 meters for a fourth-place finish at the Skyhawks Invitational. O'Quinn is also making his NE10 Championship debut and has thrown in three meets but set a personal record at the Skyhawks Invitational with a toss of 11.11 meters.

Lisi will also be competing in the hammer throw in which he currently has the second-longest throw of the season (48.15 meters) set back at the Merrimack Alumni Classic in April. Sophomore, Chris Cox competes in his second NE10 Championship and on the season, he has thrown in this event twice. Cox threw a career-high, 41.24 meters at the Merrimack Alumni Classic. Finally, freshman, Ethan Peck makes his NE10 Championship debut and has competed in hammer at all six meets this season. At the SNHU Spring Invitational, Peck recorded a personal-best with a throw of 42.17 meters (ninth in the NE10). 

In the longest run of the meet, Shane Braz represents Stonehill as he competes in the 10,000-meter race. Braz has competed in this race two times once at last year's NE10 Championship where he ran a career-best time, 32:19.36, and the other at the Holy Cross Invitational. At the Holy Cross Invitational, Braz crossed the finish line at a season-best, 32:35.01 for second place and currently holds the ninth-fastest time in the NE10.

Nickolas McNamee is competing in his third NE10 Outdoor Championship in the 1,500, a race in which he has placed in the top three each time and has won once at the Merrimack Alumni Classic. At the Merrimack meet, McNamee crossed the finish line with a winning time of 3:57.91 which is a personal record for the senior. In terms of the NE10, McNamee's time is in the top-10 of the conference (10th). Other runners competing in this event for Stonehill are Ian Cann and Jace Hollenbach

For Cann, it is his second NE10 Championship appearance and the third time he will be competing in the 1,500-meter this season. Cann ran a career-best time of 4:05.20 at the season-opening, UMass Lowell Invitational back in March. However, for Hollenbach, this will be his first NE10 Championship appearance but the fourth time this season partaking in the 1,500-meter. Hollenbach ran his best time at the UMass Lowell Invitational at 4:08.16.
