Pacheco Leads Men's Track & Field on Day One of NE10 Championships

Merrimack, New Hampshire, sophomore earns All-NE10 honors in pole vault

EASTON, Mass. (May 6, 2022) – The Stonehill College men's track & field program picked up an All-Northeast-10 Conference performance from sophomore Jacob Pacheco in the pole vault to highlight day one at the 2022 NE10 Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Stonehill, at W.B. Mason Stadium today.

Pacheco earned the All-NE10 honors with his third-place finish in the pole vault as he bettered his personal-best by over ten-inches by clearing 14-feet, 11.50-inches on his third attempt. He also scored points for Stonehill in the javelin throw with a personal-best distance of 182-feet, 7-inches.

Pacheco's ten points helped Stonehill accumulate 31 points on the first day of the Championships to sit fourth in the team standings. Southern Connecticut State University leads the way after the first day with 107 points, more than double the points of second-place American International College (49 points), while Franklin Pierce University is third (33). 

Highlights

  • Senior Nickolas McNamee finished fourth in the 1500-meter run in a personal-best 3:55.12. Freshman Jace Hollenbach also scored for the Skyhawks with his eighth-place finish in a personal-best 4:05.24.
  • McNamee and Hollenbach also ran for Stonehill's 4x800-meter relay that closed out the first day of the Championship in fourth place in 7:58.33. McNamee ran the lead leg, followed by junior Noah Drapeau, Hollenbach and sophomore Connor Hughes on the anchor leg.
  • Senior Shane Braz finished sixth in the 10,000-meter run final this evening in 32:42.32.
  • Sophomore Cody DeAngelo also scored points in the pole vault, placing seventh at 13-feet, 1.75-inches.

  • Sophomore Solomon King has qualified for Saturday finals in the 100 and 200-meter dashes. He qualified fourth in the 100-meter dash in a personal-best 10.98-seconds, while clocking in at a personal-best 21.89-seconds for sixth place in the 200-meter dash prelims.
  • Freshman Shea Drugan will also run in tomorrow's 200-meter dash final after qualifying eighth in a personal-best 22.14-seconds.
  • Freshman Zachary Ofurum narrowly missed qualifying for the 100-meter dash final, placing ninth in the prelims in a personal-best 11.10-seconds, while placing 13th in the 200-meter dash in a personal-best 22.46-seconds.
  • Sophomore Andrew Morin qualified for tomorrow's 400-meter hurdles final, placing fifth in today's prelims in 56.36-seconds.
  • Sophomore Chris Cox and senior Robert Lisi both scored in the hammer throw. Cox placed sixth with a personal-best distance of 141-feet, 3-inches, while Lisi was right behind in seventh with a throw of 139-04.
  • Hughes finished 11th in the 800-meter run prelims in 1:59.26.
  • Freshman Sean Theurer placed 13th in the long jump with a distance of 19-feet, 7-inches.

The NE10 Outdoor Track & Field Championships continues Saturday, with field events starting at 11 a.m., while the multi-events continue at 2 p.m., and then the track finals getting underway at 3:30 p.m.
