Kuo a double-winner to lead nationally-ranked Blue Jays to eighth-straight win

KISSIMMEE, Fla. (March 7, 2023) – Creighton University, ranked No. 65 in this week's Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) NCAA Division I national rankings, posted its eighth-straight win with a 7-0 decision over Stonehill College in a non-conference men's tennis dual match at the United States Tennis Association (USTA) National Center this afternoon.

Highlights

  • Freshman Zachary Kuo was a double-winner to lead nationally-ranked Creighton to the win. He teamed up with postgrad Oscar Alvarez for a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles as the Blue Jays claimed the doubles point by taking two of the three matches. Kuo followed that up by dropping just a game on his way to a straight sets win at No. 5 singles.
  • Junior Matthew Lanahan earned a 6-2, 6-4 decision over Stonehill freshman Mateo Mallen at No. 1 singles.
  • Postgrad Casey Ross, junior Shin Inoue, freshman Kirtan Patel and postgrad Ricky Rubio all earned singles points for the Blue Jays.
  • Senior Luke Nickerson and freshman Mark Kröll teamed up for a win at No. 3 doubles for Stonehill, defeating junior Zack Maline and sophomore Ethan Neil 6-4.

Stonehill (6-8, 0-2 NEC) returns to the courts on Thursday to face John Carroll University at the USTA National Center at 11:30 a.m. Creighton (8-3, 3-0 BIG EAST) is off until Friday when it plays IUPUI at the National Tennis Center at 11 a.m.
