Krick a double-winner for Cougars in Spring Break match

KISSIMMEE, Fla. (March 5, 2023) – The College of Charleston opened their spring break trip with a 7-0 victory over Stonehill College in a non-conference men's tennis dual match at the United States Tennis Association (USTA) National Center this afternoon. 

Highlights

  • Postgrad Robby Krick led Charleston as a double-winner in the match. He started by combining with sophomore Mattia Bernardi for a 6-3 decision at No. 1 doubles. Krick followed that up as part of a Cougars sweep of the six singles matches with his 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles against Stonehill freshman Mark Kröll.
  • Junior Zac Larke notched a 6-4, 6-2 win for Charleston at No. 1 singles against freshman Mateo Mallen.
  • Senior Noah Borges, freshman Jordyn Larke, sophomore Matias Gaedechens and freshman Juan Diego Rojas Mora each added singles wins and points for the Cougars.
  • Kröll and senior Luke Nickerson earned a win for Stonehill at No. 3 doubles in a tiebreaker, edging the Charleston tandem of senior Zachary Theodossiou and sophomore Evan Pugh, 7-6 (7-4).
  • Postgrad Johnny Wang and sophomore Brolin Dorsey clinched the doubles point for Charleston with their 6-4 triumph at No. 2.

Stonehill (6-7, 0-2 NEC) has Monday off before returning to the courts on Tuesday to battle Creighton University at the USTA National Center at 2:30 p.m. College of Charleston (3-5, 0-0 CAA) will face Loyola University of Maryland on Tuesday.
