BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (October 22, 2023) – The Stonehill College men's soccer team dropped its Sunday afternoon Northeast Conference (NEC) matchup, 4-0, to Long Island University (LIU) in Brookville, N.Y.

- Senior captain Jacob Woznicki and junior Iago Luiz De Sousa-Vieira tallied a shot on goal apiece for Stonehill.
- Freshman netminder Kyle Tencza got the start in net and recorded five saves in going the full 90 minutes for the Skyhawks.
- Redshirt-junior Ben Assane Fall and freshman Joshua Saavedra led the LIU offensive attack, registering three and four points, respectively.
- Fall scored two goals and dished out two assists, while Saavedra netted a goal of his own and distributed a pair of assists.
- Junior goalkeeper Jonathan Villacis got the start in net for the Sharks and stopped both shots he faced on goal to secure his first career shutout.
How it Happened
- LIU wasted little time getting the offense rolling, scoring a goal just nine minutes into the contest as Fall would score his first of two goals on the afternoon.
- The Sharks extended their lead to 3-0 heading into the halftime break after Saavedra netted his fourth goal of the season at the 16:32 mark of the first half, before Jaaskelainen scored a goal of his own in the 23rd minute of action.
- Both sides would remain scoreless, playing throughout the middle third of the pitch throughout the opening 15 minutes of the second half until Fall found the back of the net once again, capping off the Sharks scoring in the 61st minute and sealing the 4-0 victory for LIU.
