Woznicki Named NEC Player of the Week

EASTON, Mass. (October 10, 2023) – Senior captain Jacob Woznicki was named the Northeast Conference (NEC) Player of the Week the conference announced on Monday.

Woznicki was an offensive powerhouse in Stonehill's conference matchup against Howard University on Sunday. The Bristol, Conn., native propelled the Skyhawks to triumph with a heroic performance, recording his first career hat trick against the Bison.

Just two minutes after letting up the second goal of the game, Woznicki went on the attack, poking the ball away from a Bison defender and burying a shot into the back of the net after going 1-on-1 with the goalkeeper for his first goal of the contest. In the 37th minute, sophomore Colin Milliken crossed a shot into the box and onto the head of Woznicki, who found the back of the net to knot the game up at two apiece heading into the break.

The senior captain didn't stop there, after classmate Ekrem Hadzic rocketed a shot from 25-yards out, Woznicki was there to clean up the rebound, completing his hat trick in the 67th minute of the contest and sealing the 3-2 victory for Stonehill.

After Woznicki's first career hat trick, he currently shares the league lead in goals (6) with Milliken. He is also the NEC leader with 16 points and ranks third with four assists. The Skyhawks have produced the most goals of any team in the NEC this season (19) with the highest scoring average (1.73).

Stonehill (2-5-4, 1-1-2 NEC) continues its conference slate on Thursday, facing off against Merrimack College at 7 P.M., in Andover, Mass.
