Men's Soccer Reveals Packed Slate For 2023 Schedule

2023 Schedule

EASTON, Mass. (July 13, 2023)- The Stonehill College men's soccer team has released its schedule for the upcoming season, which features 17 regular-season contests with eight matches being played at home.

"We are excited for a more traditional schedule in year two of our transition to Division One," said men's soccer head coach Jim Reddish. "We are especially excited for the opportunity to play more games at home and compete for a spot in the NEC postseason."

Stonehill kicks off the 2023 season with four of its first five contests at home led by the home opener versus La Salle (Aug. 24) who also was Stonehill's first Division I opponent last season. The Skyhawks then take a quick road trip to the University of Rhode Island (Aug. 27) for the first time since 1985 and the fourth overall meeting as the Rams lead the series, 3-0.

The Purple and White finish off their season-long three-game homestand with matchups against Canisius (Sept. 1), Niagara (Sept. 4), and the University of Saint Thomas Minn. (Sept. 9). Last year against Saint Thomas, Stonehill notched its first Division I win with a 1-0 victory in St. Paul, Minn.

After the homestand, the Skyhawks head to Bryant University (Sept. 12) and Dartmouth University (Sept. 16) before returning home again and kicking off Northeast Conference play versus Saint Francis University (Sept. 21). The squad then wraps up the month of September with a road match at NEC newcomer, Le Moyne University (Sept. 24) and then come back home for a game against Sacred Heart University (Sept. 28).

In October, the Skyhawks head out on their longest road trip of the season starting out with a first-time matchup at Brown University (Oct. 3). Last year, the Bears finished with an 8-6-3 record which featured a three-game unbeaten streak against Rhode Island, Princeton, and Hartford.

Stonehill continues the road trip with matches against Howard University (Oct. 8), Merrimack College (Oct. 12), Boston College (Oct. 17), and Long Island University (Oct. 22). With their matchup at the Eagles, it will be the first time the sides have met since 1986 and currently Boston College holds the series lead, 4-0.

Stonehill rounds out the year with two home matchups against NEC members Central Connecticut (Oct. 26) and Fairleigh Dickinson (Oct. 29).
