SMITHFIELD, R.I. (September 12, 2023) – Stonehill College was held scoreless through ninety minutes as Bryant University netted four second half goals to earn the victory in the non-conference matchup on Tuesday night.

Highlights

  • First-year student Tiago Lima-Bittencourt recorded the lone shot attempt for Stonehill.

  • Senior goalkeeper Carlos Dias Neto tallied a season-high eight saves on 12 shots faced in the Skyhawks net.

  • Junior Gustavo Rodriguez and senior Inigo Villaldea each recorded their first goals of the season for Bryant, while senior Luis Fernando Paul and Javier Soler Gandia netted their second goals on the young season.

  • Senior Vicente Valor Martinez, senior Adrian Camacho, and sophomore Jadien Williams each dished out assists for the Bulldogs.

How it Happened

  • Dias Neto was on fire in net early for the Skyhawks, as the senior netminder recorded five of his eight total saves on the night in the first 12 minutes of the game, keeping the Bulldogs off the board early.

  • With the game still scoreless halfway through the opening half, Bittencourt would race up the field and ring a shot off the post, nearly scoring the game's opening goal and giving Stonehill the first lead of the contest.

  • In the 37th minute, sophomore defender Colin Hargraves made an outstanding defensive play blocking a shot on an empty net to keep the game scoreless heading into the break.

  • However, Bryant would waste little time getting the scoring started in the second half with a goal in the 47th minute off the boot of Rodriguez.

  • The Bulldogs would double their lead in the 58th minute after a header from Soler Gandia - off a corner kick from Valor Martinez - found the top left corner of the net.

  • Bryant would tack two more goals on the board in the 74th and 77th minutes of the contest to seal the 4-0 victory.
