WASHINGTON DC (October 8, 2023) – The Stonehill College men's soccer team earned a comeback Northeast Conference victory against Howard University, 3-2, on Sunday afternoon.

Highlights

  • Senior captain Jacob Woznicki recorded his first career hat trick after scoring three goals on the afternoon against Howard.
  • Sophomore Colin Milliken dished out his team-leading third assist of the season, while freshman Jaxson Kahawai recorded his first career assist.
  • Milliken and Woznicki are now tied for the Northeast Conference lead with six goals.
  • Senior goalkeeper Ryan Coutu earned his first win in his fourth start in goal for Stonehill.
  • Sophomore Christian Rufael led Howard's offensive attack scoring a goal and dishing out an assist, while junior Bryson Baker found the back of the net for the second time this season.
  • Senior goalkeeper Benjamin Hoesli tied his season high of six saves in goal for the Bison.

How it Happened

  • Howard wasted little time getting the offense rolling scoring two goals in the opening 15 minutes of action.
  • However, Stonehill would respond right away as Woznicki cut the deficit in half, scoring an unassisted goal in the 16th minute, less than two minutes after Rufael's first goal of the season at the 14:00 minute mark of the contest.
  • Woznicki tied the game up at two apiece in the 37th minute off an assist from Milliken.
  • Coming out of the halftime break, the Skyhawks continued their offensive momentum, pressuring the Howard defense throughout the opening 20 minutes of the second half. Woznicki would break through once again in the 67th minute to secure his first career hat trick off Kahawai's first career assist.
  • Both sides would remain scoreless for the final 23 minutes of regulation, as Stonehill's backline held the Bison without a shot on goal for the entire second half of action.
