SYRACUSE, N.Y. (September 24, 2023) – The Stonehill College men's soccer team scored twice as they tied Le Moyne College, 2-2, in a Northeast Conference matchup at Ted Grant Field Sunday afternoon.

Highlights

  • Senior Jacob Woznicki led the Skyhawks with four points, assisting on the first goal of the game and then scoring the second for Stonehill, good for his third goal and team-high third assist of the season.
  • Junior Colin Milliken paced the team with three shots on goal while putting the opening goal in the back of the net for his team-leading fifth goal of the season.
  • Senior goalkeeper Carlos Dias Neto notched five saves in his sixth start of the season, playing all 90 minutes.
  • Senior Shon Ryan recorded his second assist of the year on Woznicki's goal late in the first half.

How it Happened

  • In the 20th minute, Woznicki threaded a pass behind the Dolphin defenders where Milliken gathered the ball with his right foot and put it past the Le Moyne goalie from the middle of the box to give the Skyhawks a 1-0 lead.
  • Not even two minutes later the Dolphins secured the ball back in their attacking zone as Ziad Abdul-Malak made a move past a defender into the box where he rocketed a right-footed shot into the bottom left corner of the net to tie the game at 1-1.
  • Stonehill regained the lead in the 44th minute when a Skyhawk corner kick was taken by Ryan who lofted a cross into the box from the right flag where Woznicki headed the ball into the center of the net past the goalie.
  • Le Moyne knotted the score at 2-2 in the 65th minute as a corner kick from the Dolphins was sent into the box and where it ricocheted around before Ben Quigley stepped into a left-footed shot that deflected off a Stonehill player and landed into the back right side of the net.
  • The two teams went scoreless for the final 35 minutes as they played to a draw in their first meeting as Northeast Conference opponents.
