#7 Field Hockey Rebounds Against Saint Michael’s, 3-1

EASTON, Mass. (October 6, 2021) - Stonehill College, ranked No. 7 in this week's Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II poll, rebounded from its first Northeast-10 Conference setback of the season by jumping out to a quick lead on its way to a 3-1 victory over Saint Michael's College in NE10 field hockey action on Timothy J. Coughlin, '80 Memorial Field at W.B. Mason Stadium this afternoon.

The Details

  • Junior Madi Weber scored her first two goals of the season to lead the way for Stonehill, while sophomore Raegan Hickey dished assists on the Skyhawks first two goals to grab a quick lead in the opening quarter.
  • Freshman Riley O'Connor recorded an impressive 16 saves in the cage for Saint Michael's.
  • Weber opened the scoring 8:20 into the contest off a cross from the right side by Hickey that opened a three-goal wave over the next five minutes.

    Sophomore Claudia Crowe doubled the Stonehill lead just four minutes later from the left side of the cage off another cross from the right by Hickey with 2:25 remaining in the opening quarter for her third goal of the season.
  • Saint Michael's pulled a goal back 1:02 later with the seventh goal of the season by sophomore Bridgie Loughlin from the left side of the scoring circle off a pass from senior Jenna Puleo.
  • Weber's second of the afternoon and of the season provided Stonehill with insurance with 10:10 on the clock in the fourth quarter off a penalty corner.
  • Senior Abigail Campbell finished with one save in the Stonehill cage.

Stonehill (9-2, 7-1 NE10) is back in action on Saturday, when it visits Molloy College for an NE10 matchup at noon. The Skyhawks return to W.B. Mason Stadium next Wednesday, October 13, to host No. 3-ranked Assumption University at 7 p.m. Saint Michael's (4-7, 3-4 NE10) hosts Adelphi University on Saturday at 2 p.m.
