EASTON, Mass. (September 7, 2021) – Two members of the Stonehill College field hockey program, ranked No. 10 in the Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II preseason poll, that had key roles in Saturday's season-opening win over No. 2-ranked East Stroudsburg University have earned weekly awards from the Northeast-10 Conference this week.

Junior back Andrea Caradonna has been named the NE10's Defensive Player of the Week, while sophomore forward Raegan Hickey earned Rookie of the Week honors from the Conference. The duo were key members of the Skyhawks 1-0 triumph over East Stroudsburg on Saturday. Caradonna spearheaded the defensive effort in the shutout victory as the Stonehill backline limited the Warriors to just seven shots on target, while also successfully defending eight penalty corners. Hickey, making her much anticipated collegiate debut after the cancellation of the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, scored the lone goal in the fourth quarter of the ESU win. The winning goal came with 7:44 to play in regulation as she collected a rebound on the near post and fired the winner into the left side of the cage.

Caradonna has now started all 19 games she has played over her Stonehill career after starting all 17 for the Skyhawks as a freshman in 2019. She has posted a goal and assist, while adding a defensive save over her career. The lone goal was the gamewinner in a 2-0 victory over American International College on October 12, 2019.

Hickey has now had a hand in all three of Stonehill's goals over the first two games of her Stonehill career, including the winner on Saturday. She now shares the NE10 lead with her two goals so far this season, while ranking second in the Conference with five points on two goals and an assist.

Stonehill (1-1, 0-0 NE10), after a tough 3-2 setback to No. 1 West Chester (Pa.) University on Monday, is back in action on Saturday, when it visits Saint Thomas Aquinas University for its NE10 opener at 10 a.m. The Skyhawks return to W.B. Mason Stadium next Tuesday, September 14, to host nationally ranked Saint Anselm College at 7 p.m.
