EASTON, Mass. (September 6, 2016) – Stonehill College football freshman placekicker Matthew Haite (Kingston, Massachusetts/Silver Lake Regional) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference's Special Teams Player of the Week, the league office announced today.

Haite was impressive in his collegiate debut for Stonehill in Friday night's 24-20 setback to Bloomsburg University at W.B. Mason Stadium. He kicked a pair of 30-plus yard field goals for the Skyhawks, totaling eight points in all for the night, and averaging 61.0 yards on his five kickoffs in the contest. Haite converted a 36-yard field goal in the second quarter that knotted the score at 10-10 after Stonehill had fallen behind 10-0 early in the first quarter. He also added a 30-yard field goal with 4:18 remaining in the fourth quarter to draw the Skyhawks within four points in their comeback effort.

Haite finished 2-for-3 on field goal attempts, with his lone miss a 40-yard try in the third quarter that was blocked, and converted both extra point attempts to finish with a team-high eight points. His 61-yard average on kickoffs resulted in a touchback and an average starting field position for Bloomsburg of its own 26.4-yard line.

Stonehill (0-1, 0-0 NE-10) is back in action on Friday night when it visits Southern Connecticut State University for its Northeast-10 opener at 7 p.m. The Skyhawks return home the following Saturday night, September 17, to host LIU Post at W.B. Mason Stadium at 6 p.m.
