Special Teams Player of the Week: Stonehill freshman kicker Matthew Haite (Kingston, Mass.) was named the Northeast-10 Conference's Special Teams Player of the Week on Tuesday. Haite was impressive in his collegiate debut for Stonehill in Friday night's 24-20 setback to Bloomsburg University at W.B. Mason Stadium. He kicked a pair of 30-plus yard field goals for the Skyhawks, totaling eight points in all for the night, and averaging 61.0 yards on his five kickoffs in the contest. Haite converted a 36-yard field goal in the second quarter that knotted the score at 10-10 after Stonehill had fallen behind 10-0 early in the first quarter. He also added a 30-yard field goal with 4:18 remaining in the fourth quarter to draw the Skyhawks within four points in their comeback effort.

He's Honored: Stonehill sophomore running back Mike Cordova (Monroe, N.J.) was named to the Northeast-10 Conference's weekly honor roll on Tuesday. Cordova totaled a game and career-high 176 all-purpose yards against Bloomsburg on Friday night. He rushed the ball a career-high 19 times for a career-best 91 yards and his first career touchdown while adding four receptions for 29 yards and returned three kickoffs for another 56 yards. He scored his first career touchdown with a nine yard scamper to put the Skyhawks on the board late in the first quarter.

Preseason Predictions: Stonehill has been picked fifth in the Northeast-10 Conference's preseason coaches' poll for the second straight year. Stonehill received 44 points to sit fifth in the preseason poll, with defending NE-10 champions Assumption College picked to capture its second straight title with 79 points and seven of ten first place votes. The University of New Haven is picked second with 72 points and two first place votes, followed by LIU Post (61 points) and Merrimack College (58), collecting the final first place vote, with Stonehill rounding out the top five. The Skyhawks were also picked fourth by d2football.com NE-10 columnist Paul Falewicz in his preseason rankings as well as Hero Sports.

Aye, Aye, Captains: First year head coach Eli Gardner has named four captains for the 2016 season. Seniors Ryan Doherty (Methuen, Mass.), Andrew Kibarian (Lynnfield, Mass.) and Anthony Siciliano (Monroe, N.Y.) along with junior Matt Foltz (Mount Joy, Pa.) were selected as captains by their teammates and coaching staff at the end of spring ball. It marks the first time Stonehill has had four captains since 1999.
