EASTON, Mass. (December 10, 2021)-The American Volleyball Coaches' Association (AVCA) revealed their All-Region team, and for the first time in their careers, senior's Abby Remick and Carly Russell were named to the AVCA Division II All-East Region team. Remick and Russell are just the seventh and eighth ever in program history to earn AVCA All-East Region honors. It is also the first time since 2014 two volleyball student-athletes earned this honor (Emily Iverson'15 and Delia Phillips'15).

Remick had a stellar year for the Skyhawks as she played all 32 matches for Stonehill this fall, recording 368 kills (seventh-best regular-season total in program history), averaging a team-high 3.15 kills and 3.6 points per set, while also contributing 0.26 service aces, 2.42 digs and 0.30 blocks per set. She registered a season-high 19 kills in a five-set win at Mercy College on September 28 and collected a season-best 17 digs against American International College on September 25 and at Saint Anselm College on October 19.

She also played in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in her career and in her two NCAA Tournament games, Remick managed 23 kills with her best game coming in Stonehill's first-ever NCAA Tournament win against sixth-seed Jefferson University. She recorded 14 kills while also posting a .272 hitting percentage in the victory. Throughout the tournament, she averaged 11.5 kills, 8.5 digs, and 2.5 blocks.

Remick appeared in 81 career matches, having totaled 817 kills, 55 service aces, 514 digs, 74 blocks, and 915 points. She is averaging 2.86 kills, 0.20 aces. 1.80 digs and 0.26 blocks per set over her career. She received the Fred C. Petti Academic Award recently for having the highest grade point average among all Stonehill student-athletes for the 2020-21 academic year (4.0) and has also earned the Saint Thomas Aquinas, Patron Saint of Students, Medal for having the highest cumulative GPA on the volleyball team. She has been named to the NE10 Academic Honor Roll and Athletic Director's Honor Roll every semester at the College and received the Division II ADA Academic Achievement Award.

Russell also had a strong year for Stonehill as the senior libero appeared in all 29 matches and led the team with 4.73 digs and 0.34 service aces per set. She ranked fourth among NE10 dig leaders while ranking 14th for aces per set. Russell is the first in program history to surpass 500 digs in a season with her program-record total of 558 this fall, matching her career-best with 31 twice this fall against Daemen College (9/18) and at Bentley (11/5). She broke the previous program digs mark of 487 by Erin Kelly'13, in 2011.

Russell also made her NCAA Tournament debut and totaled 37 digs with the biggest effort coming in Stonehill's win against Jefferson University. In the victory, Russell dug the ball out 19 times, and for the 19th time this season, she recorded 15 or more kills.
