Men's Track and Field Wraps Up At Harvard Multi & Beantown Challenge

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (January 8, 2022)-Stonehill College men's indoor track and field resumed their indoor season as they traveled to Harvard University for the Harvard Multi & Beantown Challenge Saturday and posted a sixth-place finish. The Skyhawks saw several top-10 finishes led by Jacob Pacheco who recorded a fourth-place finish in the high jump and pole vault events. 

Highlights:

  • Pacheco set two new personal bests in both the high jump and pole vault. First, in the high jump, Pacheco recorded a jump of an impressive 1.92 meters. Next, in the pole vault, he topped his previous season-high of 4.10 meters with a new personal best of 4.22 meters to secure the fourth-place finish. Not far behind Pacheco in the pole vault was Cody DeAngelo who posted a mark of 3.92 meters for the fifth-place finish.
  • Freshman Solomon King had another top-10 finish for the Skyhawks with a sixth-place finish in the 60 meters with a time of 7.17 seconds. However, in the 200 meters, King set a new personal best with a time of 23.56 seconds topping his previous high of 23.69.
  • Shea Drugan had another stellar meet for Stonehill as the freshman set a new career-best in the 200 meters race. Drugan posted a time of 23.01 seconds for an eighth-place finish topping his previous best of 23.62.
  • In throwing events, Ethan Peck was another Skyhawk who set a personal best in the weight throw event. Peck tossed an impressive 13.30 meter throw (13th place) which surpassed his previous mark of 12.83 meters. 

Other Performances

  • Along with Drugan and King recording top-15 finishes in the 200 meters, Stonehill saw three other Skyhawks round out the race as Zachary Ofurum (23.90 seconds-personal best), Sean Theurer (24.16 seconds-personal best), and John Paulhamus (24.20 seconds) for finishes of 20th, 21st, and 24th respectively. 
  • Jake Dwyer posted a sixth-place finish for Stonehill in the 60-meter hurdles when he ran a time of 9.33 seconds.
  • Peck was one of three Skyhawks who placed in the weight throw event. After Peck, Chris Cox (12.50 meters) and Robert Lisi (12.17 meters) each finished 18th and 19th respectively. 
  • In shot put, three Stonehill throwers rounded out the event as Cox (12.05 meters), Michael Gozzo (11.76 meters-personal best), and Lisi (11.40 meters) for 16th, 17th, and 18th place finishes.
