NE10 Weekly Release

EASTON, Mass. (April 19, 2022)- For the first time in his collegiate career, Solomon King has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Field Rookie of the Week as announced by the conference earlier this afternoon. It is King's second NE10 Weekly honor as the sophomore was named the NE10 Track Rookie of the Week the previous week.

Last week at the Merrimack Alumni Classic, King registered a pair of top-three finishes on the day, scoring 12 points himself towards the team score. He finished third in the 100-meter dash in 11.06-seconds to lead six Stonehill entries out of 32 overall, with two Skyhawks in the top ten. King also added a third-place finish in the high jump by clearing a season-high 6-feet, 2-inches on the third attempt of his third progression of the event. He also anchored Stonehill's 4x100-meter relay that finished first in 42.49-seconds, edging out fellow NE10 rival Assumption University (42.72) with the third-quickest 4x100 time in the Conference this spring.

Overall on the outdoor season, each time King has competed in the high jump event, he posted finishes within the top-10 at all three meets so far including a first-place leap of 1.78 meters (5' 10") at the Southern New Hampshire Invitational on April 2. As for the other events he has partaken in (100-meter, 200-meter, and 400-meter), he also has finished within the top-10 in those events when he has raced in them.

Stonehill is back in action next Saturday, April 23, when it competes at the Holy Cross Invitational in Worcester. Stonehill will host its 13th Skyhawk Invitational the following weekend, on Saturday, April 30, at W.B. Mason Stadium, before hosting the Northeast-10 Conference Championships on May 6-7.
