EASTON, Mass. February 23, 2022) - The Stonehill College Men's and Women's Track and Field team will be competing in the Northeast-10 Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship this week, February 24-25 at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center.

On the men's side, Southern Connecticut State University was voted to take the title totaling 80 points, with eight first-place votes. Stonehill was voted to take fifth place, earning 48 points in the Coaches' poll.

On the women's side, American International College was slated to earn the championship receiving 98 points with eight first-place votes. Stonehill was tabbed in third place, earning 75 points in the Coaches' Poll. 

Stonehill will have their most runners (four) in the 60-meter prelims that are slated to start on Thursday. The Skyhawks will have two-first timers competing in the event as Solomon KingShea Drugan, and Zachary Ofurum make their NE-10 Indoor Track and Field Championship debuts in the event. Each time King has competed in the 60-meter dash this year, he has always finished under 7.20 and within the top-20 at each meet. Meanwhile, Drugan has finished below 7.35 each meet while also placing within the top-30 every time he has competed in the event throughout the season. Finally, Ofurum, has raced in the 60-meters twice and has finished within the top-30 each time with a personal best of 7.33 set at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Indoor Track & Field Championships NEICCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships back at the beginning of February.

Also seeing action in the race is junior Nate Skopas who will be making his second appearance at the NE10 Indoor Track and Field Championships. During the 2020 championship, Skopas competed in the 200-meter when he finished with a time of 24.14 in 20th place. Overall on the season, Skopas has competed in the 60-meter three times and has always finished within the top-30 and also set a new personal best during the NEICCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships with a time of 7.36.

Senior Nickolas McNamee competes in the NE10 Indoor Track and Field Championships for the third time in his career. On Thursday McNamee will compete in the 800-meter run, an event in which he has a solid showing at past NE-10 Indoor Championships. During the 2020 NE10 Indoor Track and Field Championship, McNamee posted a 17th place finish with a time of 2:08.51. Overall on the season, McNamee has competed in the 800-meter one other time two weeks ago at the 2022 Boston University David Hemery Valentine Invitational where he finished with a time of 1:57.69.  

Senior thrower, Robert Lisi will also be competing in the NE-10 Indoor Track and Field Championship for the third time in his career. Lisi will compete on both Thursday and Friday, Thursday he competes in the weighted throw event in which he averaged a toss of 12.04 meters at the NE10-10 Championship. Earlier in the season, Lisi set a new personal best in the weighted throw event when he recorded a toss of 13.94 meters and a third-place finish back in December at The Art Kaddish Elm City Challenge. Friday, Lisi will compete in the shot put event in which he has placed within the top-30 for each meet and has thrown more than 11.30 meters including a season-high 11.57 meters toss at the URI Invitational back in January.

Jacob Pacheco will compete in two field events on Thursday for Stonehill, high jump and pole vault both of which are events he was strong at throughout the season. In the high jump, Pacheco has reached a height of 1.85 meters or higher and finished within the top ten during each event this season. Pacheco set a personal record of 1.92 meters and a season-best fourth-place finish in January at the Beantown Challenge. Pacheco had similar success in the pole vault events throughout the year as he placed within the top ten in every meet and always reached a height of 4.00 meters or greater. Recently at the 2022 Boston University David Hemery Valentine Invitational, he set a new career-high with a height of 4.40 meters for an eighth-place finish. 

Friday will see two Stonehill runners compete in the one-mile run with both Ian Cann and Michael Parzych making their NE-10 Indoor Track and Field Championship debuts. Cann has had a strong rookie season for Stonehill as he earned All-New England honors for his seventh-place finish at the NEICAAA Indoor Track & Field Championships when he crossed the finish line at 4:23.54. In every meet Cann has competed in the mile, he has finished under 4:30 and placed within the top-20. Meanwhile, Parzych competed in the mile once but he notched a top-25 finish (24th) with a time of 4:41.33.
