The Details:

  • Prior to the game, the team honored their seven seniors: Owen Schiffmann (team manager), Tim Grable, Joshua Loveridge, Chase McKay, Charles Page, Mike Seoane, and Augustus Stevens. Thank you all for your contributions to both Stonehill men's hockey and Stonehill College!
  • Neither side generated a scoring opportunity in the first period courtesy of the strong play in net from McKay who made 13 of his 31 saves.
  • However, under a minute into the second period (19:01), Saint Michael's broke the scoreless drought when Case Kantgias sent his shot past McKay for the 1-0 advantage.
  • Stonehill quickly responded just over 30 seconds later (18:30) when John Peloso scored his team-leading 13th goal of the season. Seoane and Page each helped push the puck to Peloso who then sent his shot past Purple Knights goalie, Marshall Murphy.
  • The Skyhawks found their groove and took the lead at 17:08 when Sage Bittinger-Esser sent the puck up to Jake Cady and he shot a wrister past Murphy to make it 2-1.
  • Later in the second (6:12), the Purple Knights evened things up at two when David Ciancio received passes from Thomas Flack and Cameron Stewart.
  • With 4:42 remaining in the second period, Seoane scored the eventual game-winner after he corralled a lead pass from Ryan King to push the puck past Murphy for the 3-2 advantage.
  • For the remainder of the game, the Skyhawks defense and McKay held strong and prevented the Purple Knights from scoring, and with just three seconds left in the period, Brendan Nehmer sent a shot from Stonehill's end of the ice to the empty Saint Michael's net to secure the 4-2 triumph.
