Framingham State slips past Men’s Ice Hockey, 2-1


Nehmer's tenth career goal gave the Skyhawks an early lead

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. (November 16, 2021) - Framingham State University shook off a first period goal with markers in the second and third to skate away with a 2-1 decision over Stonehill College in a non-conference men's ice hockey matchup at Loring Arena tonight.

The Details

  • Freshman Ashton Collazo's first collegiate goal with 3:12 to play lifted Framingham State to its first win of the season with the Rams countering a first period goal from Stonehill with single tallies in the second and third.
  • Freshman Trevor Sternberg stopped 48 of the 49 shots on goal he faced in the Framingham State goal, while senior Chase McKay made his first start of the season in goal for Stonehill and finished with a season-high 33 stops.
  • Junior Brendan Nehmer opened the scoring with just 2:20 to play in the first period, assisted by sophomore Drew Gardner, with his third goal of the season (10th career).
  • Framingham pulled even 7:50 into the second period with a penalty shot from freshman Elijah Slagter for the first goal of his collegiate career.
  • Stonehill kept the pressure up after Collazo's first career goal, earning a late power play, but Stenberg stopped five shots in the closing three minutes of regulation to preserve the win.
