Ice Hockey Falls to Post in NE10 Play, 4-2

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. (December 4, 2021)- Despite recieving two goals from Nolan FitzPatrick and Tim Grable, it was not enough as Stonehill College fell to Post University, 4-2 in Northeast-10 Conference action at the Bridgewater Ice Arena tonight.

The Details

  • Post Universty saw three different goal scorers on the evening but were led overall by Jake Raleigh who ended up having two goals for the Eagles in both the second (3:34) and third period (15:22). Netminder, Brandon Brown for the visitors stopped 33 shots on the evening.
  • The Eagles built an early 3-0 lead after John Krapian, Raleigh, and Kieran Gardner all scored between the first and second periods.
  • Stonehill trimmed the deficit to two after Thomas Horak found FitzPatrick up the ice and sent his shot past Brown to make it 3-1 with just a little over 11 minutes left in the period (09:39).

    In the third period, neither squad could find the net for majority of the period until just under five miunutes remaining (15:22) when Raleigh scored his second goal on the night and made it 4-1.
  • Stonehill would not go quiely however. A little over a minue later (16:51), Grable rifled a shot from the left side behind Brown to cut the deficit down to two. Grable's goal marked the first of his collegiate career for the senior defensemen.
  • Despite the Skyhawks having a powerplay opportunity with a little under a minute left (19:38), the Skyhawks unfortunately could not capitalize. 
  • On the evening, freshman goalie, Gavin FitzPatrick made 18 saves in just his third career start and is now 2-1-0 on the year with a .915 save percentage and 2.67 goals against average.

Stonehill's (4-6-1, 2-3-1 NE10) next five contests will all be on the road starting on Tuesday at Westfield State for non-conference action with at 7:35 p.m. The Skyhawks don't return to home ice until Friday, January 14, for the second half of a home and home NE10 series with Southern New Hampshire University at 7 p.m. Post University (3-5-0, 3-2-0 NE10) returns home to host Rivier University on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
