UMass Dartmouth Downs Ice Hockey, 8-0

CANTON, Mass. (October 30, 2021) - UMass Dartmouth scored three goals over the opening seven minutes, including a shorthanded tally, scoring four goals in the opening period overall on its way to an 8-0 victory over Stonehill College in non-conference men's ice hockey action on day two of the Curry College Tournament at the Canton Ice House this afternoon.

The Details

  • Postgrad Dillon Radin scored a hat trick to lead UMass Dartmouth, adding an assist for a four-point day.
  • Junior Michael Perrone also tallied four points with two goals and two assist for UMass Dartmouth, while classmate Austin Miller recorded a goal and two assists and senior Jimmy Pelton contributed a goal and assist.
  • Junior Daniel Davidson recorded the shutout in goal for the Corsairs with 19 saves.
  • Junior John Day registered 11 saves in the opening period for Stonehill, while senior Chase McKay made 24 stops over the final 40 minutes in the Skyhawks goal.
  • Radin potted two of his three goals in the opening seven-minute rush that saw UMass Dartmouth open a lead it would not relinquish. After Perrone scored the opening goal 1:49 into the contest, Radin added a shorthanded tally less than two minutes later and then stretched the Corsairs lead to three with his second tally at 6:50 of the opening frame.
  • Pelton capped the UMD scoring with 1:03 to play in the first period and then Radin closed out his hat trick just 33-seconds into the second from Perrone and fifth-year Kai Kapossy, who chipped in with two assists in all for the contest.
  • UMass Dartmouth closed the game out with a three goal third period, adding a second shorthanded tally, as well as finishing on the power play.
