Curry Edges Ice Hockey in Opener, 1-0

CANTON, Mass. (October 29, 2021) - Junior John Day made a career-high 32 saves in just his second career start, but Stonehill College dropped a 1-0 decision to Curry College on day one of the 2021 Curry College Tournament at the Canton Ice House tonight.

The Details

  • Day's 32 saves come in just the second start and second appearance of his collegiate career. He stopped all 11 shots on goal he faced in the first period and then ten more in the second before halting 11 of 12 in the third. Day recorded 31 saves in his first career start, a 2-2 overtime draw with Westfield State University on January 9, 2020.
  • Senior Reid Cooper, a transfer from Division I Robert Morris University, made 16 saves for the shutout in his Curry debut.
  • Postgrad Tarek Paranica scored the only goal of the contest 12:31 into the third period with assists from senior Alexander Bouchard and junior Austin Whelan.
  • Curry handed Stonehill ice hockey alum Peter Roundy, '10 his first career win in his debut at the Colonels helm.
  • Tonight marked Stonehill first contest since its 3-1 triumph over Franklin Pierce University in the 2020 NE10 Championship.
