Haskin double and Morgan's six save shutout fuels Warriors
EASTON, Mass. (October 19, 2023) – Merrimack College scored twice late in the first half to propel the Warriors to a 5-0 victory over Stonehill College in a Northeast Conference women's soccer matchup at Skyhawk Field this afternoon.
Highlights
- Senior Sydney Haskin scored two goals to lead Merrimack's four different goal scorers, giving the Warriors a two-goal halftime lead before completing her double in the second half, 35-minutes after the Warriors opener.
- Senior Lily Morgan preserved her third shutout of the season with six saves.
- Merrimack also got goals from juniors Ella Cormier and Jillian Golden as well as freshman Isabella Keogh in the victory.
- Senior Mia Jackson finished with six saves in goal for Stonehill.
How it Happened
- Morgan and Jackson each made two first half saves, with Merrimack breaking through when it was awarded a penalty kick in the 30th minute and Cormier deposited her fifth goal of the year.
- Haskin's first goal doubled the Merrimack lead before halftime and then the Warriors struck for three in the second to break the game open.
- Keogh scored less than three minutes into the second half for her fifth goal of the season, before Golden also netted her fifth of the year less than two minutes later, and then Haskin completed her brace with a goal that came within 35-minutes of Cormier's spot kick that opened the match scoring.
