Women's Soccer Downed by Bryant, 2-0

EASTON, Mass. (September 7, 2023) – After a scoreless opening half, Bryant University would pull away in the second half to secure a 2-0 victory over Stonehill College in a non-conference women's soccer matchup this afternoon. 

Highlights 

  • Sophomore Madison Luke and junior Samantha Breton scored the lone goals for the Bulldogs.

  • Sophomore Emily Supple dished out her first assist of the season on Luke's second half goal.

  • Junior Grace Caso registered a team-high five attempts throughout the afternoon.

  • Graduate student Emma Slade and first-year duo Lindsey Brown and Emma Cranston each recorded shots on net for the Skyhawks.

  • Senior goalkeeper Mia Jackson finished with 5 saves in her fifth start of the season in goal for Stonehill.

  • Jackson now ranks tied for 14th in the nation with 34 total saves on the year.

  • Throughout the opening half, both sides would go back-and-forth in each other's offensive zones, tallying six and five shot attempts, respectively.  

  • Coming out into the second half still scoreless, the Bulldogs would break through in the 63rd minute with a redirect shot from Luke off a cross from Supple in front of the Stonehill net. 

  • Bryant kept up its offensive pressure, recording two shots inside the Skyhawks 18-yard box before drawing a penalty kick attempt in the 70th minute of the contest. 

  • Breton would step up to the line and capitalize, scoring a penalty goal and extending the Bulldogs advantage to 2-0.

  • Despite the late effort to mount a comeback, registering three shots and two corner kicks over the final 15 minutes of the game, the Skyhawks would come up short by a final score of 2-0.
