EASTON, Massachusetts (April 21, 2023)- Today, the Stonehill College softball team hosted a Northeast Conference matchup against the Knights of Fairleigh Dickinson University, where the Skyhawks played a competitive game with both strong offense and defense, earning their first NEC win of the season with a score of 3-1.

Key Moments:

Starting the game off with two scoreless innings on both sides, in the bottom of the third inning and the top of the order, centerfielder Natalie Bottiglieri singled to the pitcher, making it to first, and advancing third basemen Megan Weis to third and sending shortstop Emily Nardelli home to tie the game 1-1 and earning an RBI.
Right after, with left fielder Alexa Adinolfi up to bat, Bottiglieri stole second, with FDU;s catcher attempting to throw her out. Bottiglieri made it to second, which allowed Weis to steal home, earning the second run for the Skyhawks.
Still in the third inning, DP Paige Wodarski singled to second base, with Bottiglieri making it to home on a passed ball, giving the Skyhawks a 3-1 lead and an RBI.
In the top of the sixth inning, with a FDU runner on first, the Knights hit a ground ball to shortstop Nardelli. Nardelli throw to second basemen Courtney Brochu, tagging the runner out, then throwing to first basemen Alyssa Grossi, tagging the batter out, earning a double play for Stonehill.
Pitcher Skylar Brandemarte pitched a great game for the Skyhawks, keeping the momentum going throughout the game, throwing a '3 up, 3 down' in the fourth, fifth, and seventh inning.
