Stonehill SB Finishes Series Against Saint Francis

LORETTO, Pennsylvania. (March 21, 2023)- Today, the Stonehill College softball team stuck around in Loretto, Pennsylvania to play the last game of the Saint Francis University series at Red Flash Softball Field. This was the Skyhawks' first Northeast Conference opponent of the season, where the Skyhawks put up a tough battle but fell short with a loss of 0-16.

 

Key Moments:

  • SFU was able to take a heavy lead by the second inning, scoring seven runs, including three homerun's.
  • Starting the hitting off for the Skyhawks was right fielder Megan Weis with a hit in the top of the third inning to third base off of a bunt, making it to second off of a SAC from centerfielder Natalie Bottiglieri.
  • Still in the top of the third inning, left fielder Alexa Adinolfi singled to right field, advancing Weis to third, with Adinolfi stealing second shortly after before the end of the inning.
  • In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Skyhawks took to the field, making a great double play from third basemen Shannon Conte to first basemen Paige Wodarski off of an infield hit from SFU.
  • Saint Francis was able to finish the game early in the fifth inning, ending the game with five home runs, a grand slam, and a final score of 16-0 SFU.

Loss: Stonehill-  Skylar Brandemarte (25-13), Kelly Mayette (36-19), Lauren Donovan (27-12), Molly Adamo (3-2)

 Up Next:

Stonehill is on the field again tomorrow, Wednesday, March 22nd, as they travel to Providence College in Providence, Rhode Island for a game at 4 p.m. They will then play Wagner College on Saturday, March 25th for a doubleheader at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. in Staten Island, New York.
