How it Happened

  • LIU wasted little time jumping out to an early one-goal lead as Valk lit the lamp on his second of the season just 1:47 into the game.
  • Stonehill nearly tied the game up minutes later as Galante's shot from just outside the crease was kicked away by Perrone in net.
  • The Sharks extended their lead with less than two minutes to play in the opening period after Welsh scored on the power-play off assists from postgrad Grayson Constable and sophomore Cade Mason.
  • After the Sharks drew a five-minute major penalty two minutes into the middle frame, LIU would tack its third goal of the game on the board on the man advantage.
  • Fox rifled a shot from the nearside faceoff circle over Meilun's shoulder, extending the Shark's advantage to 3-0.
  • At the 7:05 mark of the second, Brimmer would find the back of the cage for his sixth goal of the year, making it a 4-0 game in favor of the Sharks.
  • Schwenninger would cut the Skyhawk's deficit to three goals after scoring a backhanded goal past a diving Perrone on the power play at the 16:32 mark of the second.
  • LIU regained their early offensive momentum after the second intermission when Kane netted the Shark's fifth goal of the contest just 1:19 into the frame.
  • Stonehill found a way to claw its way back to within three after Galante scored his fourth goal of the season minutes later.
  • However, LIU would cap off the scoring at the 10:02 and 16:31 marks of the third off the sticks of Di Cicco and Welsh to seal the 7-2 victory over the Skyhawks.
