SYRACUSE, N.Y. (February 17, 2024) Stonehill men's basketball dropped a Northeast Conference matchup at Ted Grant Court against Le Moyne Saturday afternoon, 75-67.

LEADERS

  • The Dolphins were led by grad student Luke Sutherland who had game-highs of 23 points, nine rebounds, and five assists.

FIRST HALF

  • The first half began much differently than the Skyhawks and Dolphins first meeting of the season just ten days ago, with just three points in favor of Le Moyne, 19-16, separating the two teams nearly halfway through the first 20 minutes of action.
  • Stonehill had a shooting spell, going 1-7 from the field while Le Moyne hit on 6-9 shots to give the Dolphins a 34-18 lead with 4:57 remaining in the first half.
  • Le Moyne took its largest lead of the game with 1:45 to play in the half after Trent Mosquera knocked down the seventh Dolphin three-pointer, giving Le Moyne a 40-23 lead.
  • The final five points of the half came from the Skyhawks as Stonehill trimmed its deficit to 12 going into the break, 40-28.

SECOND HALF

  • After a three-pointer from Zegarowski opened the second-half scoring, the Dolphins outscored Stonehill 7-2 to increase their halftime lead by two points, 45-31.
  • Le Moyne led by 13, 58-45, with just over 12 minutes left on the clock when Stonehill got things rolling on both ends of the floor, sparking a 13-0 run over five minutes to tie the score at 58-58.
  • The Dolphins converted on eight of their 10 free throw attempts and four of their seven shot attempts, closing out the game on a 17-9 run, winning the game on their home court, 75-67.
  • Stonehill shot 55.6% (15-27) from the field in the second half while holding Le Moyne to just a 30.6% (11-36) clip, fueling the Skyhawks late rally that came up just short.

NOTEWORTHY

  • Stonehill falls to 18-25 all-time against Le Moyne, dropping the first two Division I matchups against the Dolphins after the first 41 games were as Division II foes as members of the Northeast-10 conference. Stonehill is now 7-14 when taking on Le Moyne at Ted Grant Court.
  • With today's game at Le Moyne, head coach Chris Kraus has now been at the helm of Stonehill men's basketball for 288 games, tying the second-most games as head coach with his predecessor David McLaughlin.
  • Despite the Skyhawks having rolled out 12 different starting lineups this season, tied for the fifth-most in the country, Stonehill has now used the same starting five for eight straight games.
  • Abrams has scored 17 points in total this season in games not against Le Moyne but is averaging 9.5 points per game on 6-9 shooting in total in the two games against the Dolphins.
  • Junior Nathan McGill (Dillsburg, Pa.) matched his career-high of five rebounds while Zegarowski matched his season-high of nine boards for the third time this season.
