The Game
Stonehill hosts Merrimack at Merkert Gym Thursday night in the conclusion of the regular season series between the two longtime opponents. The Warriors defeated the Skyhawks in North Andover, Mass. earlier this season and Merrimack is currently in a tie for the top spot in the Northeast Conference standings, posting a 9-2 record in league play this year. Stonehill will defend its 3-6 record at Merkert Gymnasium aganst a Warriors team that is 5-8 on the road. Since joining the NEC, the Skyhawks are 0-3 against Merrimack but still hold a 74-48 record all-time in a series that dates back to 1949 with the Warriors.

Thursday night's game will be broadcasted digitally on NEC Front Row with Charlie Bergeron (play-by-play) and Brian Buckley (analyst) calling the action for the Skyhawks. Scouting The Warriors
The Warriors are in a tie for the top spot in the NEC with Central Connecticut State as both teams hold 9-2 record in league action. Merrimack tops the conference in opponent field goal percentage, holding the opposition to a 41.3% shooting clip this season. The Warriors also lead the conference in steals per game, averaging 10.1 which is the eighth-highest mark in the country. They allow just 66.1 points per game, the second-best scoring defense in the league. Merrimack is led by five-time NEC Player of the Week, sophomore Jordan Derkack, who leads the conference with a scoring average of 17.8 points per game. He's also sixth in the league, grabbing 6.1 rebounds per game. Freshman Adam "Budd" Clark has also tallied five NEC Rookie of the Week honors from the conference, averaging 12.0 PPG and 3.7 assists per game for the Warriors.

Against The Warriors
This is the 123rd meeting all-time between Stonehill and Merrimack, with the first 119 coming at the Division II level as members of the Northeast-10 conference. This will be the fourth meeting as members of the Northeast Conference as Merrimack has won the first three matchups as NEC foes. Stonehill leads the all-time series, boasting a 74-48 record while being 25-14 at Merkert Gym when the Warriors come to town.

LORETTO, Pa. (February 10, 2024) – Stonehill men's basketball dropped a Northeast conference matchup at DeGol Arena as Saint Francis University won the first of two regular-season games, 72-63. Freshman Louie Semona (Cincinnati, Ohio) led Stonehill in scoring for the second game in a row, netting 13 points on 50% (6-12) shooting from the field. He also tallied one steal and one block. Fifth-year Pano Pavlidis (Queens, N.Y.) grabbed seven boards to lead the Skyhawks on the glass. Bobby Rosenberger was the game's leading scorer, putting up 22 points on 8-15 shooting while Aaron Talbert went 5-7 from three and 8-11 from the field to score 21 for the Red Flash. Rosenberger also had nine rebounds for Saint Francis, a game-high mark.


Rotating cast
The Skyhawks have used 12 different starting lineups through 26 games this season as nine different players have started for Stonehill and no Skyhawks has started all 26 games. The Skyhawks have used the same starting lineup for the past six games. Stonehill's 12 different starting lineups is tied for the fifth-most unique combinations in all of Division I. Eastern Michigan (16) is at the top of list while Detroit Mercy (15), Kansas City (15), Milwaukee (15), Furman (14), Siena (14), Vanderbilt (13), and Jacksonville (13) are the only schools with more combinations than the Skyhawks.
