Women's Tennis Drops NEC Quarterfinal Clash to LIU, 4-0

WEST WINDSOR, N.J. (April 12, 2024) – Second-seeded Long Island University posted a 4-0 victory over seventh-seeded Stonehill College in its quarterfinal round clash of the 2024 Northeast Conference women's tennis tournament at the Mercer County Tennis Courts Friday afternoon.

How It Happened

  • The Skyhawks match against the Sharks marked their first-ever participation in the NEC Championship Tournament during Stonehill's NCAA Division I era.
  • LIU (9-5, 3-1 NEC) advances to Friday's semifinal round, meeting the Saint Francis versus Wagner College quarterfinal match winner. 
  • Senior Leo Bouisseau and graduate student Lucy Garrigues led the Sharks as double winners.
  • First-year student Mia Tsoukalas and senior Clara Tardivel took the first flight of doubles competition at the No. 3 slot over sophomore Camila Zuluaga Rodriguez and first-year student Madison Warren, 6-1. 
  • Bouisseau and Garrigues then teamed up to clinch the doubles point for LIU with a 6-4 victory over sophomore Anneliese Beltran and first-year student Julie Holte at No. 1 doubles. 
  • Bouisseau secured her double win on the day with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Holte at No. 1 singles, while Garrigues followed with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Warren at the Sharks' No. 2 slot. 
  • Senior Saki Oyama clinched LIU's 4-0 match victory after defeating Beltran, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 3 singles.
