Women's Tennis Cruises to 6-0 Victory Over Regis on Senior Day

EASTON, Mass. (April 10, 2024) – The Stonehill College women's tennis team cruised to a 6-0 victory over NCAA Division III opponent Regis College Wednesday afternoon. Following the conclusion of the non-conference matchup, the Skyhawks honored their lone senior, Lindsay Macdonaldwith a senior day ceremony.

How It Happened

  • Beltran and Holte combined to take down junior Samantha Gevry and junior Harmony Lopez, 6-0, at No. 1 doubles. 
  • Such and Macdonald clinched the doubles point for the Skyhawks with a 6-0 victory over sophomore Akshita Duvvri and first-year student Madelynn Philibotte at No. 2 doubles. 
  • Zuluaga Rodriguez earned her team-leading sixth singles win of the season, 6-1, 6-2, against Gevry at the No. 1 slot.
  • Brito do Rio secured her second win of the year with a 6-0, 6-1 decision over Lopez at No. 2 singles.
  • Such and Macdonald capped off their individual double victories with triumphs at the No. 3 and No. 5 singles positions. 
  • Such defeated Duvvuri at No. 3, while Macdonald swept first-year student Nicole Shakhov at No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-0. 
  • Gustafson rounded out the sweep of the singles flights for the Skyhawks with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Philibotte at No. 4 singles.

Stonehill (3-19, 1-6 NEC) returns to action on Friday, April 12, for the opening round of the Northeast Conference Tennis Championship tournament. On Friday, the Skyhawks will match up against Long Island University in the quarterfinal round in West Windsor, New Jersey.
