Villanova Defeats Women's Tennis

ORLANDO, Fla. (March 6, 2024) – Villanova posted a 4-1 victory over Stonehill College in a non-conference women's tennis match during the Skyhawks annual Spring Break trip at the United States Tennis Association (UTSA) National Campus Wednesday afternoon.

Highlights

  • Stonehill earned the doubles point after winning the No. 1 and No. 3 matchups. 
  • Sophomore Anneliese Beltran and first-year student Julie Holte earned their eighth doubles win of the season against junior Emma Brogan and graduate student Amanda Rivera-Gonzalez. 
  • Junior Marissa Such and sophomore Camila Zuluaga Rodriguez secured the doubles point for the Skyhawks.
  • Such and Zuluaga Rodriguez combined for their third doubles victory of the season at the No. 3 slot against sophomore Savie Seebald and first-year student Maddie Hills. 

How It Happened

  • Villanova swept the first four matchups in singles competition to secure the match victory.
  • Senior Bella Steffen took down Alice Brito do Rio, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 3 singles.
  • The doubles pairing of Rivera-Gonzalez and Brogan each earned wins at No. 4 and No. 6 singles, respectively.
  • Seebald would clinch the match victory for the Wildcats after earning a win by retirement against Such at the No. 5 singles slot.
