EASTON, Mass. (February 6, 2024) – Senior Solomon King (Norwood, Mass.) collected his first Northeast Conference Track Athlete of the Week and his third Prime Performer award of the indoor season, the conference announced on Tuesday.

King broke his own Stonehill record in the 200m race Saturday afternoon as the Stonehill College men's track and field team competed at the Bruce Lehane Scarlet and White Invitational at the BU Track & Tennis Center.

Exactly one year ago, on Feb 3, 2023, King set the Stonehill indoor 200m record at New England Championships with a time of 21.43 seconds. Today he broke his own record when he placed fourth out of 104 runners with a time of 21.24 seconds, blowing past the top mark in the NEC of 21.58 seconds that he set at UMass on Jan. 14.

The senior sprinter currently sits atop the leaderboards for three different events in the NEC. His league-leading time of 6.81 seconds in the 60m dash and his leap of 1.96m in the high jump are among his best marks in the conference.

Along with King, fifth-year Colin Black (Hopedale, Mass.) was also named a Prime Performer for his outstanding performance at BU on Saturday. The distance runner now holds the fourth-fastest 5000m run in Stonehill indoor track and field history after finishing the race in 14:46.47.

Black came in 13th place in the event and was the first out of five Skyhawks to cross the finish line that competed in the 5000m on Saturday. His time of 14:46.47 is also the second-fastest 5k in the Northeast Conference.

Stonehill track and field is back in action at the University of Rhode Island for the second time this season, competing in the URI Coaches Invitational at Mackal Field House on Saturday, Feb. 10 in the final meet before Northeast Conference championships.
