Men's Track and Field Concludes Indoor Season as King Wins 200m at New England Championships

BOSTON, Mass. (March 2, 2024) – Senior Solomon King (Norwood, Mass.) won the 200m dash finals as the Stonehill men's track and field team completed its 2023-24 indoor season after day two of New England Indoor Championships at the TRACK at New Balance.

As a team, the Skyhawks finished with 27 points, finishing in a tie for ninth place out of 30 New England schools from the Division I, II, and III levels that scored at least one point. The top eight finishers of each final are named to the All-New England team for their respective events.

FIELD EVENTS

  • Junior Parker Hagen (Newport, R.I.) placed ninth in the triple jump on Saturday, leaping 13.50m (44' 3.5") as he narrowly missed the top-eight threshold by less than three inches.

TRACK EVENTS

  • After winning the Northeast Conference indoor 200m dash just two weeks ago, King secured the New England title with a time of 21.15 seconds, to tally 10 points for the Skyhawks and earn the distinction of All-New England.
  • In the 60m dash prelim, freshman Brody McGrail (Duxbury, Mass.) ran a personal record of 6.99 seconds, which ties the fourth-fastest time in school history. In the finals of the event, he finished in 7.00 seconds to place seventh, scoring two points for the Skyhawks while being an All-New England honoree.
  • Freshman Brendan Wilder (Waltham, Mass) and senior Connor Hughes (Melrose, Mass.) finished back-to-back in the 1-mile race, placing eighth and ninth with times of 4:15.76 and 4:17.51. Wilder earned the Skyhawks one point and All-New England honors with his eighth-place finish.
  • Junior Jace Hollenbach (Topsham, Maine) came in fifth in the 3000m race to be an All-New England runner, notching four points for the Skyhawks as he set a new personal record with a time of 8:29.83.
  • Fifth-year Reilly Johnston (Providence, R.I) and freshman Nicholas Davies (Auckland, New Zealand) also had top-10 finishes in the 3000m as Johnston finished in 8:35.34 to place ninth and Davies finished right after in 8:36.66.
