Track and Field Sends Distance Runners to Providence for Friar Invitational

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (April 12, 2024) - The Stonehill College men's and women's track and field teams sent a handful of runners to Providence College to run in the Friar Invitational Friday night at the Ray Treacy Track at Hendricken Field.

WOMEN'S RESULTS

  • Junior Emma Lawrence (Milford, Mass.) placed 18th in the 800m run, running the race in 2:14.79. Lawrence's time tops the Northeast Conference leaderboards in the 800m race this outdoor season.
  • Freshman Anna Casey (Medford, Mass.) made her outdoor debut in the 800m race, running her fastest time in the event at 2:21.87.
  • Sophomore Jordan Malloy (Colchester, Conn.) finished the 1-mile race in 4:58.85, the third-fastest finish of her career while placing 13th.

MEN'S RESULTS

  • Freshman Brendan Wilder (Waltham, Mass.) blew past his personal record in the 1-mile race, improving on it by nearly three seconds to clock in at 4:11.21.
  • Freshman Brayton Gazerro (Coventry, R.I.) also set a PR Friday evening, placing 20th in the 5000-meter race with a time of 14:45.44. Gazerro's time ranks fifth in the NEC going into this weekend's meets, also being the top freshman time in the conference.
  • Fifth-year Reilly Johnston (Providence, R.I.) finished close behind Gazerro in the 500m, placing 24th with a time of 14:48.11 for a new personal best. Johnston would rank sixth in the NEC, right behind Gazerro.

  • Stonehill track and field is back in action tomorrow morning with the entire team going back to the University of Massachusetts for the second weekend in a row, competing in the Commonwealth Invite in Amherst beginning at 10 a.m.
