King Earns Third Consecutive NEC Track Athlete of the Week

EASTON, Mass. (April 24, 2024) – Senior Solomon King (Norwood, Mass.) collected his third straight Northeast Conference Track Athlete of the Week and Prime Performer honors after another strong weekend at Holy Cross, the conference announced on Wednesday.

The Stonehill College men's track and field team competed in the Holy Cross Invite Saturday afternoon at the Hart Field and Track in Worcester, Mass.

For the third week in a row, King made Stonehill history, breaking his own outdoor 400-meter dash school record with a time of 48.18 seconds, placing second in the meet. He set the school record just two weeks back on April 7 at the UMass Flagship Opener, originally holding the record at 48.54 seconds.

King also won the 200-meter dash on Saturday, clocking in at 21.36 seconds, his second-fastest performance in the event this spring. The senior sprinter remains atop the NEC leaderboards in both the 100m (10.56 seconds) and 200m dashes (20.87 seconds) while moving up to fifth in the conference in the 400m.

Kings holds the outdoor school records in the 100-meter, 200-meter, and 400-meter dashes as well as being a part of the 4x100-meter relay team that set a new school record last spring.

Stonehill track and field celebrates its senior day at the 15th Annual Skyhawk Invite on Saturday, April 27 at W.B. Mason Stadium in Easton, Mass. beginning at 11 a.m. in the Skyhawks' lone home meet this spring.
