EASTON, Mass. (August 22, 2022)-Stonehill College freshman forward, Olivia Sharkansky was named the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week for her stellar play in the program's Division I debut last weekend.
Despite the 2-1 setback at Hartford, Sharkansky made an immediate impact in her collegiate debut. Early in the second half at the 65-minute mark (65:46), Sharkansky intercepted a misplay by the Hartford fielder and brought the ball to the middle of the box where she rifled a shot past the Hawks diving goalie. Not only was it the first Division I goal in program history, but it was also her first collegiate goal. Sharkansky finished tied for second on the team in shots with three.
The Skyhawks will have some time to rest up before their next matchup in their longest road trip of the season out in Colorado when they take on Adams State next Friday, August 26 at 6:30 p.m. Stonehill then wraps up their Colorado road trip at the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs on Sunday, August 28 at 2 p.m.
