The Game
Stonehill College continues its season-long matching three game road trip as part of a larger stretch of five of six away from home in the month of February when it visits Le Moyne College for a Northeast Conference matchup among the Conference's newest members after the pair were longtime members of the Northeast-10 Conference on Ted Grant Court inside the Henninger Athletic Center tonight. The Skyhawks seek their first road win and are aiming to bounce back from a pair of setbacks last week, including Saturday's 63-55 loss at Wagner College. The Dolphins are winners of seven of their last nine, but look to rebound from a 73-55 loss to Sacred Heart University here on Saturday.

Media Information
Tonight's game will be broadcast live on NEC Front Row. Tim McCaffrey (PBP) has the call of the action along with Samantha Croston (analyst) for the Le Moyne College production. Last Time Out
Wagner held off Stonehill's fourth quarter rally to secure a 63-55 victory in a Northeast Conference women's basketball contest at Spiro Sports Center. Shamique Cummings led Wagner's balanced scoring effort that featured four double-figure scorers, including a trio with a team-high 13 points by making 5-of-7 shots and grabbing a team-best seven rebounds with three steals. Rakisha Ballinger totaled 11 of her 13 points in the second half, finishing 6-of-10 shooting with three rebounds and four steals, while Kiera Edmonds contributed 13 points and three boards. Semie Brar rounded out the Seahawks in double-figures with ten points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals. Senior Jada Thornton (Germantown, Md.) recorded a new career-high for the second-straight game, finishing with a game-high 20 points, including nine of her 15 second-half points in the fourth quarter, with two rebounds, two assists and a steal. Against the Dolphins
Tonight marks the 38th meeting all-time between these two former Northeast-10 Conference rivals who meet for the first time as members of the Northeast Conference at the NCAA Division I level. Stonehill holds a 27-10 advantage in the all-time series which dates back to the 1996-97 season, but Le Moyne won the last encounter with a 70-59 victory here in Syracuse on January 8, 2022. The Dolphins have won the last three matchups here on Ted Grant Court to level the all-time series here at Henninger Athletic Center at nine wins apiece. Stonehill head coach Trisha Brown is 20-6 over her career against the Dolphins, while Le Moyne head coach Mary Grimes is 1-0 in her career against the Skyhawks.

Last Time They Met
Le Moyne outscored Stonehill 17-6 over the final five minutes to hold off a Skyhawks comeback from double-digits down in the first half to claim a 70-59 victory in Northeast-10 action on Ted Grant Court on January 8, 2022. Kayla Raymond led Stonehill with 18 points, seven rebounds, three assists, three blocked shots and two steals. Emily Bramanti added 12 points, nine rebounds, six assists and a steal. Erin Fouracre led Le Moyne with 18 points, seven rebounds and four assists, while Saeeda Abdul-Aziz added 17 points, shooting 5-for-10 from threes, and two rebounds. Stonehill overcame a slow start, battling back from as much as a 14-point deficit in the opening quarter to draw even in the fourth, but was unable to grab a lead. Le Moyne, which led by 14 (19-5) after a quarter of play, outscored Stonehill 17-6 over the final five minutes of regulation to hang on for the win. The Dolphins sealed the win from there by making 10-of-12 free-throws in the final 45-seconds, including 6-of-6 by Fouracre.

Prime Performer
Stonehill senior Jada Thornton (Germantown, Md.) was named a Northeast Conference Prime Performer for the second time this season on Monday. She recorded a pair of career-high scoring performances for the Skyhawks, averaging 19.5 points on 48.5-percent shooting (16-for-33), including 1-for-2 from three, converting 6-of-8 (75%) free-throws, with 3.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 steals per game over two games. Thornton opened the week with 19 points on 8-of-15 shooting, with four rebounds, two assists and a steal in Thursday's matchup with NEC leaders Sacred Heart, then two days later scored a career-best 20 points at Wagner on Saturday, including nine of her 15 second-half points in the fourth quarter, with two rebounds, two assists and a steal. She joins postgraduate transfer Lauren Sampson (Waltham, Mass.) by earning Prime Performer status a team-leading twice this season, while junior Sharn Hayward (Penguin, Tasmania) has garnered the recognition once to give the Skyhawks weekly honorees for five-straight weeks.

Road Trips
Stonehill is in the midst of a season-long matching three-game road trip, which kicks off a larger stretch of five of six games in the month of February on the road. The Skyhawks will play five of seven games this month on the road with their only remaining home game this month the return trip by Le Moyne at Merkert Gym next Saturday, February 17, at 2 p.m., for their Alumnae Day Game. Stonehill is still in search of its first road win of the season (0-10), having dropped its last 11 away from Merkert Gym dating back to a 69-61 victory at St. Francis Brooklyn on February 11, 2023.

Right There
15 of Stonehill's 25 NEC games over its first two years in the Conference have been decided by eight points or less, including five of its eight Conference wins, and eight of its last 15 games in league play overall.

Cam Starts
Stonehill senior Cameron Ward (Bound Brook, N.J.) made her 20th career start at Wagner on Saturday. She is the fourth current Skyhawk to reach 20 starts this season, joining classmate Jada Thornton (Germantown, Md.) and juniors Sharn Hayward (Penguin, Tasmania) and Maureen Stapleton (Spring Lake Heights, N.J.). Ward made her 20th start in her 26th career game played - all coming over the last two seasons.

Board Games
Senior forward Cameron Ward's (Bound Brook, N.J.) career-high 15 rebounds as part of a double-double effort at Wagner on Saturday is tied for the second-highest single-game total in the NEC this season behind only 16 from LIU's Amaya Dowdy against Saint Francis on February 3. Junior Maureen Stapleton (Spring Lake Heights, N.J.), who joined Ward in double-figures with ten boards on Saturday, pulled down a career-high 14 rebounds at Niagara (11/19), marking the fourth-highest total in the NEC this year.

Double-Doubles
Senior forward Cameron Ward (Bound Brook, N.J.) leads Stonehill with two double-doubles after notching the second of her career with her 13 points and career-high 15 rebounds (eight offensive) at Wagner on Saturday. She posted her first career double-double, along with classmate Jada Thornton (Germantown, Md.) against Merrimack on January 21 with Ward finishing with a career-best 17 points and ten rebounds, while Thornton notched her first career double-double with 15 points and a career-best 11 boards. They marked the Skyhawks first double-doubles since former teammate Sophie Glidden, '23 totaled ten points and 12 rebounds at Saint Francis on February 2, 2023. It marks the first time Stonehill has had two players with double-doubles in the same game in its Division I era and first since Kayla Raymond, '22 (18 & 11) and Sophie Glidden, '23 (16 & 13) accomplished the feat against Franklin Pierce on February 8, 2022.

Margin Rebounding
After finishing non-conference play with a -9.9 per game rebound margin, Stonehill has sliced that differential in half and is now fifth in the NEC at -5.0 rebounds per game, including +2.2 rebounds per game in Conference play (2nd) after outrebounding Wagner by 11 (37-36) on Saturday. The Skyhawks are second among league leaders in NEC play for rebounds per game (37.4) and offensive rebounds (13.3), while ranking sixth on the defensive glass (24.1).

20-20 Vision
Stonehill has produced three 20-point games over the last six games, starting with junior Sharn Hayward's (Penguin, Tasmania) career-high 33 points on a school and NEC record 11 three-pointers against Wagner (1/15). Senior Jada Thornton (Germantown, Md.) is the latest Skyhawk to join the 20-point club with her career-high 20 point total at Wagner last Saturday, while postgrad Lauren Sampson (Waltham, Mass.) netted a career-high 23 in the Skyhawks win over Saint Francis (1/25).

Preseason Prognostications
Stonehill has been picked to finish fifth in its second trip around the Northeast Conference by the league's head coaches in its preseason poll announced at the Conference's Social Media Day at the Prudential Center in Newark in October. Defending NEC Tournament Champions Sacred Heart University is the unanimous choice to capture the regular season title with all nine first place votes, followed by No. 2 Merrimack, No. 3 Wagner, defending regular season champions FDU at No. 4 and Stonehill. LIU follows the Skyhawks at No. 6, with Saint Francis No. 7, NEC newcomer Le Moyne No. 8 and No. 9 Central Connecticut State.

Tourney Time
Stonehill, winners of six Northeast-10 Conference Championships prior to elevating its program to NCAA Division I status in 2022, will have the opportunity to compete for a Northeast Conference title for the first time this season after the NEC presidents voted to waive the two-year waiting period in automatic qualifier sports at their June meetings. The Skyhawks remain NCAA Tournament ineligible until the 2026-27 season.

Celebrating 75 Years
Stonehill College, founded in 1948 is celebrating its 75th Anniversary during the 2023-24 academic year. In September 1948, some 134 students — many of whom were veterans from World War II — gathered with the eight teachers who would serve as their faculty to celebrate Mass at the Chapel in Donahue Hall. That small gathering of students and teachers marked the beginning of Stonehill College. The College kicked off its 75th Anniversary Celebration with a Jubilee Mass during Family Weekend in September, followed by music, games, food trucks and beer garden.
