The Game
Stonehill College wraps up its first of two three-game homestands by hosting the University of New Hampshire for its Purple & White Game on Team IMPACT night on Paula Sullivan Court at Merkert Gymnasium tonight. The Skyhawks seek to earn their first win of the season before embarking on a three game road trip leading into Christmas after dropping a 59-32 decision to Holy Cross here at Merkert Gym a week ago, while the Wildcats have won their last two after Saturday's 79-64 victory over Central Connecticut State University from the NEC in Durham.

Team IMPACT Night
Stonehill hosts tonight's Team IMPACT Night in celebration of the College's long-time relationship with the organization. Prior to the game, Stonehill officially unvieled its first of its kind Team IMPACT wall on the second floor of the Sally Blair Ames Sports Complex that displays all the current Team IMPACT matches, as well as a Hall of Fame for its TI alumni. Recently retired Senior Associate Director of Athletics, Cynthia MacDonald was also presented with Team IMPACT's inaugural Administrator of the Year Award for her efforts in fostering the College's relation with the organization over the last few years of her tenure in the department. Team IMPACT is the only U.S. nonprofit that brings together children facing serious illness and disability with college sports teams to ensure no child is sidelined by sickness. Team IMPACT tackles the emotional trauma and social isolation experienced by children facing serious and chronic illnesses by matching them with a college athletic team. Through their two-year therapeutic program, that complements a child's medical treatments, children develop relationships and skills that help them complete the full circle of healing. Established in 2011, Team IMPACT has already matched over 2,000 children with collegiate teams at over 700 institutions in 49 states, reaching over 60,000 student athletes. Stonehill and Team IMPACT formalized their relationship that dates back to 2012 when the women's basketball program became the first Skyhawk team to sign a Team IMPACT teammate, Lexi, with a two-partnership starting in 2021-22. Since the women's basketball program started Stonehill's relationship with Team IMPACT, 24 teammates have joined 13 Stonehill programs, including Ariel a current women's basketball teammate who joined the Skyhawks two years ago.

The broadcast can be accessed via stonehillskyhawks.com through its NEC Front Row portal (necfrontrow.com/schools/SC) or through Apple TV, Android TV, Amazon Fire TV and Roku via the NEC On the Run App. Radio coverage locally is provided by WSHL 91.3 FM with Chris Robbins and Andrew Nilsen calling the action.

Windy City Welcome
The Northeast Conference announced on Tuesday that Chicago State University has accepted full membership to the Conference starting on July 1, 2024. Chicago State is set to join NEC charter members FDU, Long Island University, Saint Francis University and Wagner College, alongside Central Connecticut State University (admitted in 1997), Stonehill College (admitted in 2022), and Le Moyne College (admitted in 2023). The inclusion of Chicago State markedly expands the NEC footprint, now encompassing three of the United States' top-10 media markets: New York City (No. 1), Chicago (No. 3) and Boston (No. 8). Located on Chicago's south side, CSU offers 15 varsity intercollegiate athletic programs, all of which are sponsored by the NEC. The Cougars field seven men's teams and eight women's teams. Sports sponsorship at CSU includes men's and women's basketball, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's golf, men's and women's soccer, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's indoor and outdoor track and field, and women's volleyball. Chicago State will be integrated into NEC athletic schedules beginning with the 2024-25 academic year. The Cougars will gain immediate eligibility to participate in all NEC championships and earn the conference's automatic qualifier to NCAA Championships. Founded in 1867, Chicago State holds the distinction of being the sole four-year Predominantly Black Institution (PBI) in Illinois as designated by the U.S. Department of Education. Boasting an enrollment of nearly 3,000, Chicago State ranks No. 1 in tuition affordability in the Chicagoland area and is in the top 4 percent nationally for boosting graduates' economic mobility.

Last Time Out

Power-Cassidy scored 11 of her game-high 13 points in the first half as she finished 6-for-13 from the floor with six rebounds, while Berger netted ten points with six boards and two blocked shots. Stonehill held its fourth opponent over the last six games under 40-percent shooting, as Holy Cross finished at 39.7-percent after a 4-for-19 (21.1%) fourth quarter, but the Skyhawks were limited to a season-low 21.8% from the field, including 1-for-14 in the third quarter as the Crusaders stretched a 17-point halftime lead (33-16) to a 26-point (46-20) advantage after three quarters.

Against the Wildcats
Tonight marks the second meeting all-time between Stonehill and New Hampshire, both coming over the Skyhawks first two seasons at the NCAA Division I level. Stonehill holds a 1-0 advantage in the series after posting a 57-50 triumph over the Wildcats in Durham, N.H., last December to notch its first road victory in its Division I era. Emily Bramanti and Mia Kelly combined for 31 points to lead the Skyhawks to the win in the inaugural meeting between the two. Stonehill head coach Trisha Brown is now 1-0 over her career against the Wildcats, while UNH head coach Kelsey Hogan is 0-1 all-time against the Skyhawks.

Last Time They Met
Stonehill notched its first NCAA Division I road win in program history with a 57-50 decision over New Hampshire in Durham, N.H. Emily Bramanti and Mia Kelly combined for 31 points to lead Stonehill to the win. Bramanti scored ten of her 16 points in the second half, including seven in the fourth quarter alone, connecting on 5-of-9 three-pointers to go with three rebounds, four assists and two steals. Kelly scored 12 of her 15 points in the first half, including eight in the opening quarter, with a season-high six rebounds, an assist and steal. Stonehill's starters accounted for all but four of its points in the contest, with the defense limiting New Hampshire to 31.6-percent shooting, including 2-for-17 in the fourth quarter and 0-for-9 from deep over the final 20 minutes. Breezie Williams led UNH with a double-double as the lone Wildcat in double-figures with 13 points and a game-high 11 rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Home Cookin'
Stonehill wraps up its first of two season-high three game homestands tonight that started with a setback to Utah Tech on Thanksgiving Saturday and last Wednesday's matchup with Holy Cross at Merkert Gym. The Skyhawks will also host three-straight in Easton in Northeast Conference play in late January/early February when Merrimack (Jan. 21), Saint Francis (Jan. 25) and Sacred Heart (Feb. 1) come to town.

Skyhawks Fly East
New Hampshire is Stonehill's second of three America East opponents on its non-conference schedule, having dropped a 69-49 decision to Bryant here on November 14. With the first two of the Skyhawks America East matchups at home, Stonehill will visit UAlbany on December 16. Stonehill finished 2-2 against America East members during the non-conference portion of its inaugural Division I season last year. The Skyhawks defeated New Hampshire for its first Division I road win last December and defeated Bryant on the road as well, while being edged by UAlbany and Vermont last winter.

A Day of Granite
Tonight marks Stonehill's first game held on December 6 since the 2014-15 season when it posted a 51-49 victory in Manchester, N.H., at Southern New Hampshire University. Tonight marks the Skyhawks' third-straight December 6 matchup against an institution hailing from the Granite State, with the last two both coming against SNHU.

Santa Brown is Coming to Town
Stonehill head coach Trisha Brown served as emcee of the College's annual Christmas Tree lighting on campus last Thursday, November 30. Brown, who has served as speaker/host/emcee at several holiday functions on campus in recent years, assisted in the event hosted by Stonehill's Office of Student Engagement which has a full lineup of holiday events scheduled for the remainder of the semester. This year's event featured a snow making feature where students could take pictures, as well as the feature event, the annual lighting of the campus Christmas Tree.

High Score
Five different players have led Stonehill in scoring this season after sophomore Paige Martin (Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y.) shared the team lead in scoring against Holy Cross last week. Senior Jada Thornton (Germantown, Md.) has been Stonehill's top scorer in four games (seven career). No current member of the Skyhawks team has been the leading scorer in a win over their career.

Mo Boards
Junior forward Maureen Stapleton (Spring Lake Heights, N.J.) leads the NEC with 8.3 rebounds per game, including a Conference-high 6.6 defensive boards per game, having led Stonehill in rebounding in seven if its eight games. She pulled down double-digit rebounds in back-to-back games, including a career-high 14 rebounds at Niagara - tied for tops in the NEC this season and she shares the Conference lead in double-figure rebound games with two.

Preseason Prognostications
Stonehill has been picked to finish fifth in its second trip around the Northeast Conference by the league's head coaches in its preseason poll announced at the Conference's Social Media Day at the Prudential Center in Newark in October. Defending NEC Tournament Champions Sacred Heart University is the unanimous choice to capture the regular season title with all nine first place votes, followed by No. 2 Merrimack, No. 3 Wagner, defending regular season champions FDU at No. 4 and Stonehill. LIU follows the Skyhawks at No. 6, with Saint Francis No. 7, NEC newcomer Le Moyne No. 8 and No. 9 Central Connecticut State.

Tough Slate
Stonehill has again assembled a strong non-conference test to lead into its second Northeast Conference season. The Skyhawks will face their first ACC opponent in Boston College in Chestnut Hill on December 12 (11 AM) to go along with opponents from the Big East (1 - DePaul), Atlantic-10 (1 - George Washington), CAA (1 - Northeastern), MAC (1 - Buffalo), WAC (1 - Utah Tech), America East (3 - Bryant, New Hampshire, UAlbany), MAAC (2 - Niagara, Fairfield) and Patriot League (2 - Lehigh, Holy Cross). Of this year's 13 game non-conference schedule, eight are repeat opponents from the Skyhawks inaugural Division I season, starting with tonight's return visit to Merkert by Northeastern and including: Lehigh (Nov. 11), Bryant (Nov. 14), Buffalo (Nov. 17), Holy Cross (Nov. 29), New Hampshire (Dec. 6), UAlbany (Dec. 16) and Fairfield (Dec. 30) - with six of those eight here at home.

Inside the Roster
Stonehill head coach Trisha Brown returns five letterwinners, including just one starter and no regular starters, from its inaugural NCAA Division I season in 2022-23.
Stonehill's roster includes:
• Three Division I transfers, including two postgraduate transfers in Anna Boruta (Vienna, Austra) from Northeastern and Lauren Sampson (Waltham, Mass.) from Providence, as well as sophomore Paige Martin (Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y.) from St. Francis-Brooklyn.

Tourney Time
Stonehill, winners of six Northeast-10 Conference Championship prior to elevating its program to NCAA Division I status in 2022, will have the opportunity to compete for a Northeast Conference title for the first time this season after the NEC presidents voted to waive the two-year waiting period in automatic qualifier sports at their June meetings. The Skyhawks remain NCAA Tournament ineligible until the 2026-27 season.

Celebrating 75 Years
Stonehill College, founded in 1948 is celebrating its 75th Anniversary during the 2023-24 academic year. In September 1948, some 134 students — many of whom were veterans from World War II — gathered with the eight teachers who would serve as their faculty to celebrate Mass at the Chapel in Donahue Hall. That small gathering of students and teachers marked the beginning of Stonehill College. The College kicked off its 75th Anniversary Celebration with a Jubilee Mass during Family Weekend in September, followed by music, games, food trucks and beer garden.
