EASTON, Mass. (March 31, 2022)- The Stonehill College softball team earned a Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader split against the Le Moyne College Dolphins Thursday afternoon at Father Gartland Field. Along with the split, it marked the Skyhawks first NE10 win of the year.

Game one: Stonehill 2, Le Moyne 6

Standout Performances:

Key Moments:

  • In game one, it was a pitcher's duel as neither side scored in the first three innings. Stonehill starter, Kelly Mayette kept the Dolphins at bay through the first five innings as she struck out six batters.
  • The Skyhawks got the scoring started in the bottom of the third (1-0) when Brochu drove in Emily Nardelli who had doubled earlier in the frame.
  • However, in the sixth, the Dolphins exploded for five runs to retake the lead (5-1) which featured a Frankie Larobardiere three-run home run.
  • After Le Moyne added another run in the seventh (6-1), Stonehill got one run back (6-2) when Dawes ripped a single to right and drove in Katelin Price

Loss: Stonehill-Kelly Mayette (1-5)

Game two: Stonehill 6, Le Moyne 2

Standout Performances:

Key Moments:

  • Le Moyne struck early in the first when Mckenzie Bergdoll collected the RBI to make it 1-0.
  • However, in game two, it was Stonehill who utilized a big inning when the Skyhawks scored four runs in the bottom of the third. After Megan Weis scored on a wild pitch to even the game at one, Kelly drove in Hammond on a sacrifice RBI after she had singled earlier in the inning.
  • Later in the inning, Brochu launched her first career home run to right-center which gave the Skyhawks a three-run advantage (4-1).
  • The Dolphins got one back in the fourth (4-2) courtesy of an Elaina Kassap RBI single.
  • Despite Le Moyne cutting their deficit to two, Hammond put the game out of reach when she hit a two-run home run to right and made it 6-2. Hammond's home run is her third and currently leads the team.
  • On the day, Brandemarte pitched another complete game for the purple and white (has pitched a complete game in each start) and struck out six which marked her third game in a row with five or more strikeouts.
