WINTER HAVEN, Fla. (March 9, 2022)- Despite being postponed yesterday due to rain, the Stonehill College softball team resumed action earlier this morning and topped Bemidji State by a score of 9-0. Courtney Brochu had a career day for the Skyhawks as she collected four RBIs in the game.

Standout Performances:

Key Moments:

  • Stonehill wasted no time in the first inning plating two runs courtesy of RBIs from Brochu and Shannon Conte. Brochu scored Alexa Adinolfi who had led off the first with a single to left and then Conte drove in Emily Nardelli after she had singled right after Adinolfi.
  • In the next inning, the Skyhawks broke things open with a four-run second that featured three of those RBIs coming from Brochu. After Paige Wodarski had walked to score May Dawes, Brochu ripped a double to right and scored three runners, and pushed the Stonehill lead to six (6-0) after two.
  • Bemidji threatened in the third inning after having runners on second and third, but Brandemarte shut down any Beavers rally by popping out the next batter. Overall on the day, Bemidji State never could figure out Brandemarte as she fanned a career-best nine batters on the morning.
  • The Skyhawks tacked on three more runs between the third and fourth innings that featured an RBI double from Nardelli in the third (7-0), and then a two-run homer by Hammond in the fourth (9-0).

Pitching Records:

Win: Stonehill-Skylar Brandemarte (2-1)
