Stonehill's All-Time Academic All-District List

EASTON, Massachusetts (July 2, 2021) – The Stonehill College softball team saw recent graduate Michelle Theilgard selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-District® first team in District I, as selected by the members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) in the East Region. Theilgard is now eligible for Academic All-America® honors, selected by CoSIDA's Academic All-America® committee, as well as voters from Division II, to be announced in late July.

Theilgard, who earned a 3.37 cumulative grade-point average over her four years, while majoring in finance and minoring in data analytics, was one of seven honorees from the Northeast-10 Conference out of 12 award winners in District I. The two-time captain is the first Skyhawk from the softball program since 2016 when Megan Ruonavaara '16 earned her second recognition. Prior to Ruonavaara, Jennifer Burge '04 and Katy Abarr '11 earned the honor twice.

Most recently, Theilgard was named to the NE10 Spring Academic All-Conference team, as the 15th selection for the program. Right before the end of the season, the graduate was named the Stonehill Athletic Department's Fr. John McCarthy, C.S.C., senior leadership award recipient based on her good academic standing, citizenship, and exemplary leadership attributes.

Prior to playoffs, Theilgard found her way to the NE10 All-Conference third team for the second time in her career, earning her fourth recognition from the Conference in her career. As a freshman she was tabbed on the third team and All-Rookie team and sophomore year she earned a second team selection. This is the third year that Theilgard has led the team in batting average as she swung .330 at the plate. She went 29-for-88 in 29 games played, driving in 16 RBI, for second on the team. She also scored 18 runs, a team best, while racking up seven doubles, one triple, and four homeruns with four stolen bases.

On the field, the senior played most of the games behind the plate, while assisting at third and first base for a few games. She recorded just four errors between the lines, assisted in three double plays, while throwing four runners out. At the conclusion of the season, Theilgard ranked 6th in homeruns (4), 12th in doubles (7), 15th in runs (18), 19th in hits (29), 22nd in RBI (16) and walks (10), and 24th in batting average (.330).

During the shortened season last year, Theilgard was named NE10 Player of the Week, as well as being selected as Stonehill's Spring Outstanding Junior and received the Division II ADA Academic Achievement Award. She has been named to the NE10 Academic and Athletic Director's Honor Rolls, the National Honor Society for Financial Management Association, and has been a member of the Women in Finance (LAUNCH) and the ENGAGE Leadership Program at Stonehill. She was also active with the team's endeavors through Team IMPACT, while also volunteering for the Special Olympics and the Boys and Field Club of Brockton.

Stonehill, seeded seventh, concluded the season playing in their first NE10 Tournament game in five years, facing the second-seeded Franklin Pierce University. The Skyhawks fought back in the top of the seventh with five runs, including Theilgard's first-career grand slam, but the Ravens claimed the win with a 7-6 victory to move on to the second round.
