Softball Falls to Franklin Pierce Twice

Stonehill recognized its six seniors prior to the game

EASTON, Massachusetts (April 24, 2021) – The Stonehill College softball team (5-17, 4-14 NE10) fell to Franklin Pierce University (14-6, 13-5 NE10) in Northeast-10 Conference play Saturday afternoon on Fr. Gartland Field on senior day, with scores of 7-1 and 12-1.

Both teams put runners on in the first inning, as Stonehill made the first move and got ahead 1-0 in the bottom of the second on an RBI single from Hammond scoring Gianna Azzato () from third.

The Ravens responded in the top of the third, with a three-run homerun from Madi Killebrew to put Franklin Pierce up, 3-1. In the top of the sixth, the Ravens went on a two-run rally putting up four runs on three hits. Konopinsk singled with a runner on third for the first run, followed by Lopez, who doubled to left field scoring Konopinsk. Killebrew showed her bat once more with a double to left field, bringing in two more runs, for the six-run advantage, 7-1.

Franklin Pierce tallied 16 hits in the five-inning win, as Stonehill only tallied five. The Ravens scored two runs in the top of the first on Hinckley's two-run blast.

They then saw their biggest inning of the game, putting up six runs in the top of the second on seven hits, including a two-run homerun from Killebrew. The Ravens kept attacking, scoring three runs in the third and one in the fourth.

Stonehill was able to get in one run in the bottom of the fourth, cutting the deficit to 11, 12-1. With runners on first and second, Hartman singled up the middle bringing Ricker home. The Skyhawks threatened in the bottom of the fifth loading the bases, but the Ravens retired the side, holding on for the win.
